Firefox Multi-Account Containers by Mozilla Firefox

by jergas, 3 years agoIf you value your privacy and want to mess with how we are tracked online, this add on is great.
If you have several users (who trust each other, I suppose) sharing the same browser instance, then this can save you a lot of logging in and out (yes, I know, not a secure practice, hence trust is implicit, but secure or not, it happens).
Both of the above I do routinely, and I have really appreciated this add on for that.
For me, though, where it really shines, is in the following too situation:
- I play a web game where it allows me to be logged in to several instance,
- opening a new container is often a fast hack that allows you to bypass the article count in some websites.
So, in sum, if there is any situation where you would like one browser instance to behave as several instances with separate contexts, this is for you.
And huge thank you for the developers, for coding this, and for doing so in a Free/Open Source app! May your kindness and dedication come back to you and bring you joy!

- Rated 2 out of 5by Nhr, a day agoThey separate single account with multi categories, not multi accounts. They claim that categories exist, but the way to open them is difficult – click here, then here, and choose from there. They may have ideas for the future, but for now, this is my review. Best wishes

Sync to a new browser always merges the default configuration without asking. The Sync does not sync the 'limit to designated sites' option, so you have to manually apply that to all the categories (while you clean out the merged in default configuration).
Management of the categories is woefully sub-par; how is there no way to manually add domains or wildcard domains to a category? Try keeping a service like Google in a 'limited' category and watch the SSO explode every time you go to maps dot google dot com because the browser doesn't stay on the auth redirect long enough to add it to the container though the UI.
It also breaks the firefox profiler, as the profiler can't load profiles from outside the category.
None of this bothered me when this feature was new, but it's been years. I wish I could recommend this and use it in earnest. - Rated 5 out of 5by Kemal, 3 days ago

Don't know how this will work with multi account containers on my laptop not syncing with my phone

And helps avoid the cross-site cookies from tracking your activities across multilple sites. e.g. allows you to keep your shopping and social media browsing separated.
While you could do this yourself by managing multiple profiles, this extension simplifies the process and makes it easier to do so. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 15144451, 11 days agoAdd-on is in Russian and it is NOT the language of my OS nor FF. I don't see the option to change the language. It doesn't spark confidence in this add-on in current geopolitical situation.
Developer response
posted 11 days agoSorry that's not working for you. The add-on should match the language of your Firefox browser. I checked the source files and everything should be in English. Can you check https://support.mozilla.org/kb/containers and file a support request? - Rated 5 out of 5by WRX384150, 12 days ago

- Rated 2 out of 5by gpsarathy, 16 days agoIts good, but half baked. Instead of using profiles, we should be able to isolate history within each container and have default container option. Thats the only basic expectation for this extension
