Firefox Multi-Account Containers by Firefox

by ilikefreesoftware, 2 years agoI really like the idea of container tabs and I want it to work. I prefer to have certain sites quarantined and the ability to have multiple logins on the same website. The ergonomics of getting that to work are what bothers me. e.g. setting a site to always open in a container tab will still prompt the user if that's what they want. There's also some issues involved in using Oauth2 across containers.
I thought at first I would use this to contain my work related activities and keep them away from everything else, but I now know that separate profiles is the answer to this use case.
All in all I think this is a valuable feature and I look forward to it getting improved upon in the future.

When I enable this extension and try to turn on the cloud sync functionality of the containers, Sync no longer works (says "Syncing" endlessly). If I click "Manage Account" in the Profile menu, it opens to an error. I can't remember what it says because I've had to create multiple Firefox profiles to fix this and gave up.

- Rated 2 out of 5by Steve Lavendar, 10 days agoCame across this one a couple of months ago, thinking that's just what I've been looking for: an extension that allows me to quickly bookmark (right-click or keyboard shortcut would be nice) a site into “containers” (for lack of a better description).
Alas, this one turns out to be a bit like one those earlier Chinese apps I had to deal with while living & teaching there:
Great idea(s)! Though execution suc*s!
Example: while the initial premise of being able to create separate accounts for separate purposes kinda works, the extension doesn't seem to be able to store bookmarks in their related containers. As soon as I close & reopen Firefox the containers are once again empty, and I need to re-research for the sites I was looking for. To make matters worse, there doesn't seem to be an option to drag n drop existing (or new) bookmarks to related containers. Guess we gotta wait for an AI, or otherwise intelligent, solution.
Would be a great extension if it would offer an intuitive way to bookmark & save sites into relevant containers (and keep them there after closing FF).
Then again, I probably didn’t get the initial purpose of this extension, and might be looking in the wrong place, or perhaps I just don’t get what’s it trying to offer. Cheers. - Rated 5 out of 5by Alejandro, 11 days ago
