Privacy Policy for Naagu Firefox Add-On
Effective Date: October 2, 2024
1. Introduction
This privacy policy outlines what information the Naagu Firefox add-on collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding the data.
2. Data Collection
The Naagu Firefox add-on collects and stores the following information:
Backend URL: The URL of the backend server provided by the user is stored locally for functionality.
Authentication Tokens (JWT): If you log in to the associated service, the add-on stores your JWT token locally to authenticate API requests. This token is used to verify if you are logged in and to access services like text-to-speech and podcast saving.
Article Data: When you extract an article using the add-on, the article's content, title, and URL are saved locally and sent to the backend for processing. No other browsing data is collected or stored.
3. How Data is Used
Authentication: The JWT token is sent to the backend server to verify your authentication status. If the token is invalid or expired, the add-on will prompt you to log in again.
Article Extraction and Processing: Article data (content and title) is sent to the backend server for text-to-speech processing and saving to your podcast feed. The extracted data is only shared with the backend to provide the requested services.
Playback and Queue Management: The add-on collects and stores a queue of audio streams from processed articles, which are then played back as requested.
4. Data Storage and Security
Local Storage: Data such as backend URL, JWT tokens, and extracted articles are stored locally on your device through browser local storage. These are only accessible by the add-on.
API Requests: All communication between the add-on and the backend server is encrypted using HTTPS.
5. Third-Party Data Sharing
The Naagu add-on does not share any collected data with third-party services. All data sent and received occurs directly between the add-on and its associated backend server.
6. User Control
Data Deletion: You can remove locally stored data (including JWT tokens, backend URL, and article data) by uninstalling the add-on or clearing the browser's local storage for the add-on.
Opting Out: If you do not wish to have your data processed, you can refrain from using the features that extract or send data (e.g., article extraction, podcast saving).
7. Updates to the Privacy Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted within the add-on or the associated website.
8. Contact Information
