NeuroMark Privacy Policy

Overview

NeuroMark respects your privacy and gives you full control over your data. This extension offers three modes with different privacy levels.

Data Collection & Usage:

Mode 1: Free Backend (Default)
What We Collect:
- Page URL, title, current bookmark folder structure, and content of bookmarks you create
- Browser fingerprint (from HTTP headers) for rate limiting only

How We Use It:
* Bookmark data sent to our AI service for categorization only
* Browser fingerprint used to enforce 1 bookmark/minute limit
* Prevents abuse without requiring login/signup

What We DON'T Store:
- No permanent storage of your bookmarks
- No personal information (name, email, etc.)
- No browsing history beyond what you bookmark
- No user accounts or profiles

Mode 2: Custom AI Provider (Optional)
What Happens:
- Your API key stored locally in Firefox only (encrypted)
- Bookmark data sent directly to YOUR chosen provider (OpenAI, Groq, etc.)
- Zero data sent to NeuroMark servers
- Subject to your AI provider's privacy policy

Mode 3: Local AI - Ollama (Optional)
Complete Privacy:
- 100% offline processing on your computer
- Zero data transmission anywhere
- No internet connection required for categorization
- Complete privacy and control

When Extension is Disabled
* No data collected or transmitted
* Bookmarks saved normally without AI processing

Browser Fingerprint Details

For Rate Limiting Only:
* Created from standard HTTP headers
* Used only to prevent abuse of free service
* No personally identifiable information
* Not used for tracking or profiling
* No cross-site tracking

Permissions Explained
* bookmarks - Read and organize your bookmarks
* tabs - Extract content from pages you bookmark
* storage - Save settings locally in your browser
* notifications - Show where bookmarks were organized
* activeTab - Read content of the active tab when bookmarking
* <all_urls> - Extract content from any page you choose to bookmark

All permissions used solely for bookmark organization. No data collection for other purposes.

Data Storage
* Your Settings: Stored locally in Firefox only
* Statistics: Stored locally in Firefox only
* API Keys: Stored locally in Firefox (encrypted by browser)
* Bookmark Data: NOT stored by us - processed and discarded immediately
* Rate Limit Data: Temporary, automatically expires

Your Control

You can:

✅ Switch providers without losing settings
✅ Uninstall to delete all local data
✅ Use manually without AI
