New Tab Override by Sören Hentzschel

by Firefox user 18218893, 7 months agoBroken. Setting "current home page" does not work if homepage is a local file. Even though hitting the home button works for local files. So it should be possible to navigate to any homepage on the event.
They support something they call "local file" option, but it is not a local file, instead it is a static copy of the file loaded somewhere into the extension storage. Therefore any changes to the local file are not reflected. E.g. it is not possible to sync/backup such file.
Also URL bar of the new tab is cluttered with homepage URL, so its very cumbersome to use it.
Perhaps it is not fault of the extension itself, and it is just result of infamous FF anti-features regarding extensions they push constantly. But anyway, it does not work as described. Uninstalling.

posted 7 months agoNo, it's not broken, that's not true. Yes, local files don't work. But that's explained in the extension and a restriction of the WebExtension framework. It's not an add-on issue at all. Just set-up a local server and you won't have any problems, it doesn't take more than five minutes.

- Rated 4 out of 5by joefiesta, 3 days agoIt was working fine. But, no longer. I have chosen custom URL (https ://www google com /advanced_search). It doesn't go there upon opening new tab.
It may have been updating firefox to 136.0.4. (spaces added to URL - review does not allow otherwise)
EDIT: Okay, now I got it work. I had to uninstall it and re-install. Something Firefox did somewhere broke it, but I can't say what. I certainly never touched it. - Rated 5 out of 5by 全民三退解体中共邪教, 6 days ago

It was a feature in „vanilla Firefox“ in the past, but it was abused by bad players and therefore Mozilla was forced to remove the option. But at the same time they gave extension developers the ability. So we have to be thankful to Mozilla.- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17434746, 19 days agoThe Bets! But, I can't donate through paypal cus they charge a fee! Suggest Venmo or other donation platform because PayPal is also run by APartheid NaXis!

It was possible several years ago, but Mozilla had to take this option from Firefox because hijacking was a real problem at that time. But we should be thankful, because Mozilla provided a WebExtension API on the first time when they removed this option. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18771567, 3 months ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Jacksaur, 5 months agoWorks perfectly. The option to change auto-focus from the address bar to the webpage is an awesome feature too, makes it much easier to use the search bar in Glance as a new tab page!

posted a month agoHallo,
- Rated 5 out of 5by sctech, 6 months ago
