About this extension
Hide every image and video, or only the ones on sites you pick.
NoMedia gives you a photo-free and video-free web, with a way back when you want one page or one picture. On a computer, pin the icon and turn the current site on or off in one click, or press Alt+Shift+M. On a phone, use Firefox’s extensions menu.
Choose how it decides:
• Everywhere except sites you allow. This is the default, and it is the media-free experience.
• Only on sites you block. Everything else stays normal.
Choose what disappears:
• Images, including photos, GIFs, and CSS background images
• Videos, including embedded players. Hidden videos are paused and muted.
• Drawn logos and illustrations, such as the picture that sits above the Google search box. Holiday doodles are hidden too. Small button and menu icons stay visible so the page is still usable.
Choose what hidden media looks like: a plain placeholder, a heavy blur, or removed from the page.
Two ways to look at something anyway:
• Right-click a hidden picture or video and choose “Show this image / video”. On a phone, a long-press may not include this, so use the extensions menu instead.
• Or show everything on the current page until you reload. After a video is revealed, click it to play. In strict mode, the right-click option is turned off.
Other options:
• Ignore tiny images such as emoji, with a size you set
• Stop hidden media from downloading, which saves data. This is available in strict mode.
• Click the toolbar icon to open the menu, or make that click toggle the site immediately
• Import and export your settings
Your block list, allow list, and settings stay in Firefox. If you use Firefox Sync, they follow you to your other computers where this add-on is installed. NoMedia has no account and no server. It does not send the pages you visit anywhere.
To hide media in a private window, open Add-ons and themes, select NoMedia, and allow it to run in private windows. Firefox does not let an add-on turn that on by itself.
