    Toggle on/off – New popup switch to enable or disable the extension.
    Storage-based state – Preference saved in chrome.storage.local (extension enabled by default).
    CSS handling – Hiding logic moved from a separate CSS file to JS injection in redirect.js; CSS applied only when enabled.
    Real-time updates – State changes are applied immediately across YouTube tabs without reload.
    Popup redesign – Dark mode support, updated toggle styling (including YouTube red), and clearer layout.
    Manifest – Added storage permission; removed noshorts.css from content scripts; removed 192/256/512px icon sizes.
    Localization – shorts_hidden message updated to “Shorts are blocked on YouTube” in all 50+ locales.
    README – Replaced short title with full documentation (features, installation, usage, how it works).
    Removed – noshorts.css and icon-192/256/512 assets.
