About this extension
Strike a match. Watch the edge burn. Page Ablaze paints a temporary fire surface over the page you choose. Click one ignition point and watch an irregular glowing edge spread outward, leaving dark textured char behind it.
The effect includes procedural flames that rise from the fire front, small embers, optional smoke and a warm boundary that cools after the burn reaches the viewport. This is a stylized surface burn overlay: it does not take a screenshot, reconstruct page elements, physically curl the website, or delete content.
Choose spread speed and fire-line height in the popup, with Adaptive, Eco or Detailed rendering. Enable it on the active page, then click a point to ignite. The ignition click is intercepted to avoid activating the underlying link or button. Subsequent ordinary page interactions remain available.
Pause and resume from the popup or the on-page controls. Restore clears the visual burn immediately; Escape removes the complete effect. Scrolling pauses an active burn so it does not keep spreading while the underlying page changes. The effect is attached to the viewport rather than to individual document paragraphs. New navigation starts clean.
Canvas rendering uses a transparent canvas, a capped pixel budget and a bounded number of flame sources along the fire line. No page screenshot is copied each frame and no page-wide DOM reconstruction occurs. The burn eventually finishes and its animation loop sleeps. Hidden tabs stop rendering. Reduced motion starts the effect paused until you choose Resume. Frame rates depend on the browser, device and page; Adaptive mode can reduce quality and draw cadence.
Popup preferences are saved locally. The live burn origin, progress and pattern are temporary and are not saved, synced or transmitted. No account, analytics, external resources or background service. Protected browser and add-on-store pages may reject activation. This is a visual effect, not a destructive editing tool or a real fire simulation.
