About this extension
Page Highlighter lets you highlight text on a webpage and find it again after a revisit. Select a passage, pick a color from the small toolbar, and the marked words are stored on your device. Returning to the same address restores the selection when the original wording can still be found.
Use it to save highlights from a web article as you work through an argument, or keep a useful definition for later study. Each selection also enters a searchable notebook with its source link, so you can return to the context rather than keeping an isolated quote.
🖍 WHAT YOU GET
• Pick from five colors to give your marks meanings that suit your task.
• Click an existing stroke to change its color or delete it without selecting the words again.
• Search the highlight library by quoted words, document title or address, then group results by site or day.
• Expand long quotes when you need the full passage and collapse them to browse the rest of your collection.
🔧 HOW IT WORKS
The notebook updates as you collect passages in other tabs and follows your system's light or dark theme. You can delete saved entries from there as well as from their original location.
💡 GOOD TO KNOW
Are these permanent highlights? They persist locally across visits, but restoration depends on finding the original passage. If an article is rewritten, the stored quote remains in your notebook even when it cannot be painted over the source. Section links within the same address share one set of marks.
Can I work offline without an account? Your saved collection is available locally without a connection. Opening a source website still requires access to that content. Protected internal pages and the extension store cannot display marks.
🔒 PRIVACY
Selections and their source details stay in this browser profile on this device. There is no cloud sync or account requirement, and quoted content is not uploaded. Local storage keeps your collection; the extension examines selected words and nearby context to restore their position on future visits.
