Privacy policy for Patriot Start Page
Patriot Start Page (“the Extension”) is designed to provide a rotating display of Bill of Rights excerpts, a DuckDuckGo search bar on your new-tab page, and a red-white-blue Firefox theme. We respect your privacy and strive to collect or transmit as little personal information as possible. This Privacy Policy explains what (if any) data the Extension may transmit from your browser, how it is used, and your choices.
- Information the Extension Collects
Search Queries: When you type into the built-in search bar and submit, your query is sent directly to DuckDuckGo’s servers. The Extension does not intercept, log, or modify these queries.
Theme API Usage: To apply the patriotic color scheme to your Firefox chrome, the Extension uses the WebExtension “theme” permission. No personal data or browsing history is accessed or transmitted as part of this process.
Amendment Excerpts: All Bill of Rights excerpts and plain-language summaries are stored locally within the Extension’s files. No dynamic fetching from external servers occurs.
3. Information the Extension Does Not Collect
We do not collect or transmit any of the following:
Browsing history or visited URLs
Cookies or site data from websites you visit
Personally identifiable information (name, email address, IP address)
Telemetry or usage analytics
4. Third-Party Services
DuckDuckGo Search: The only data leaving your browser via the Extension is the search text you submit, which goes directly to DuckDuckGo at https://duckduckgo.com/. Please review DuckDuckGo’s own privacy policy for details on how they treat search queries.
No Other Third Parties: The Extension does not include analytics libraries, advertising trackers, or any other third-party services.
5. Security
All functionality runs locally within your Firefox browser.
We follow best practices for WebExtension development, and there is no external communication beyond what is described above.
6. Children’s Privacy
This Extension is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
- Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the Extension or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect when significant changes were made. Continued use of the Extension after changes implies your acceptance of the revised policy.
