I use the pro/paid version, and honestly I've had some issues with it during this time (specifically, connection problems or incredibly slow performance), but they were swiftly addressed and, truth be told, that happens with every app from time to time. proton needs no introduction, i would say its one of the best vpn extentions and an app too right next to windscribe, basically the only two that have a free plan but boy is the paid plan so much better

Great VPN browser app, works out of the box on Mint Linux and Windows 11. Experience isn't as polished on Linux (yet), but updates are consistent and nothing breaks so I am happy. I could wish for finer exit server details presented in the web app, but if I am looking for something specific I can reference that information through the desktop app for now. I am looking forward to Proton's continuing development and success.
