- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 17827887, 2 years agothe extension itself doesn't seem to want to log me in but if you download the file from github it seems to work. https://github.com/gitladen7/protonmail-webextension/issues/23 upload the .xpi after clicking the gear icon in the add-ons tab
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13417063, 2 years agoSorry, but it simply does not work and the instructions are inaccurate. I will try to download the add-on at another time.
- Rated 2 out of 5by kosegi, 3 years agoRecognized only one of my 3 protonmail accounts. Worked great for about 3 days then suddenly stopped sending notifications. I'm now using proton's built-in desktop notifications, which is not ideal but better than nothing.
- Rated 1 out of 5by rafikiphoto, 3 years agoJust doesn't work. I get a toolbar icon which opens to no information, just basic settings with no account or details. No unread indicator appears. What happened?

- Rated 5 out of 5by AL, 5 years agoLove it! Makes it really convenient to use ProtonMail on desktop without having to enter credentials & 2FA every time. Removed part: "Just one thing: the "Preferred ProtonMail domain" setting doesn't seem to have any effect. I set it to use the beta domain but it still opens "mail.protonmail.com" instead.
Edit: Developer replied with working solution. Awesome dev!Developer response
posted 5 years agoThanks! The "Preferred ProtonMail domain" only works when the extension doesn't detect any active sessions, otherwise it just uses the domain on which you logged in.
You can try closing all the ProtonMail tabs and clearing the sessions in the extension, then it should open the beta domain (but you will have to login again). - Rated 5 out of 5by Alinivar, 5 years agoWorked perfectly at the start, notifications worked like a charm, unfortunately at some point from some reason I got a ERR on the icon and it says that my session expired and now doesn't show notifs. Tried removing and adding to no avail and assume its just my setup for Firefox that broke it. Still Pretty good.
Edit: Read this just now, yes I changed more than a few about:config settings as recommended on the PrivacyTools website but not privacy.firstparty.isolate as it was more often than not irritating. I can make an issue on github if you want.
Edit2: I did some testing of my own to see what went wrong, I have an extension called Privacy Settings which allows me to change the about:config settings at will, I made a new profile and started changing it to match my current setup till I decided to restart the profile as that might need to happen so I did and it gave me ERR,
I then set the extension to default and got the number again so I assume websites.cookieConfig.behavior which was set to block Third Party cookies was to blame.
I then made another profile and this time only changed the cookie settings in options and managed to get the same issue by blocking All Third Party Cookies in the options which means in order to make the extension work they must be enabled which I just won't do.Developer response
posted 5 years agoHello, can you open an issue on the Github page (https://github.com/gitladen7/protonmail-webextension/issues)? Did you change any about:config settings (like privacy.firstparty.isolate)? - Rated 5 out of 5by Erotavlas, 5 years agoThis is a great extension that enhances speed of protonmail web app.
Please contact protonMail team and make it official. - Rated 5 out of 5by Topkek, 5 years agoAmazing addon! I no longer have to keep my ProtonMail tab open.
