Privacy Policy - q2ip Proxy Manager
q2ip Proxy Manager ("the add-on") is published by q2ip (https://q2ip.com).
In short: your data stays in your browser; the add-on has no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising and sells nothing.
- Data stored on your device
Proxy profiles (host, port, protocol, login, password, rotation link and routing rules): stored to connect to the proxies you entered. Stored in browser.storage.local in your Firefox profile.
Settings (language, protection switches, intervals and other preferences): stored to remember your choices. Stored in browser.storage.local.
Last exit information per profile and a short IP history (maximum 30 entries): used for status display, time zone and language settings, and IP-change detection for rotating proxies. Stored in browser.storage.local.
A small table recording which spelling of a proxy server’s address carries which login (hashed, session-long): Firefox remembers one proxy login per server address; this table keeps several logins for one server apart. Stored in browser.storage.local.
Nothing of this is transmitted to q2ip or anyone else. You can export it in Settings → Backup, delete it in Settings → Delete all data, or remove it by uninstalling the add-on.
- Network requests made by the add-on
All requests below are made only after you accept the data-use notice on the first screen. You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings. Without consent, the add-on still applies your proxies but makes none of these requests.
tools.q2ip.com/api/v1/me and v4.tools.q2ip.com/api/v1/ip-echo
Purpose: exit IP (IPv4 first) and location; time zone and language; IP-change detection for rotating proxies. Two small echo requests per check, by default once a minute while connected.
Connection: through your active proxy. On the "Local IP" profile (no proxy), requests go directly only when you press "Check my IP" or let the time zone or language follow the IP.
Information visible to the service: the proxy’s IP address and normal request headers. On "Local IP", your own IP address is visible.
ipwho.is and get.geojs.io (optional backup)
Purpose: the same information if tools.q2ip.com is unreachable.
Connection: through your active proxy.
Information visible to the service: the proxy’s IP address.
cp.cloudflare.com and www.gstatic.com
Purpose: health checks for the kill switch.
Connection: through your active proxy.
Information visible to the service: the proxy’s IP address.
Public IP-echo services (ipify, Amazon checkip, icanhazip, ip.sb, ifconfig.me, Cloudflare and ipecho)
Purpose: used only when you run the proxy checker.
Connection: through the proxy being tested.
Information visible to the service: that proxy’s IP address.
product-details.mozilla.org
Purpose: retrieves the current Firefox version number for User-Agent templates. JSON data only, at most every six hours.
Connection: through your active proxy or directly.
Information visible to the service: your own or the proxy’s IP address.
The IP-rotation link you entered
Purpose: changes the exit IP when requested or according to your timer.
Connection: directly, configurable.
Information visible to the service: information normally visible to your provider.
Proxy logins and passwords are sent only to the proxy server they belong to, inside the SOCKS5 handshake or as the answer to the proxy’s authentication request.
- What the add-on never does
- It does not read, collect or transmit your browsing history, page content, form data, cookies or keystrokes.
- It does not inject advertising into websites and does not track you.
- It does not load or execute remote code. All code is inside the published package.
- It does not sell, rent or share data, and does not use data for credit scoring or lending.
- Page-level protection
A content script on web pages only changes what pages can read, including time zone, language, screen, GPU, noise on canvas, audio and measurements, and WebRTC behaviour. It does not read page content and sends nothing anywhere. Its configuration is generated locally from your profile.
- Optional permissions
Notifications: used only if you enable desktop notifications.
Run in Private Windows: if you allow it in Firefox settings, private windows are protected as well, and the add-on can keep Firefox’s proxy preference in sync with your connection. This also covers the first moments of a browser startup.
- Children
The add-on is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly process their data.
- Changes
Changes to this policy are published on this page and noted in the release notes.
