  • Latest version

    Version 1.3.0

    Released Oct 15, 2026 - 143.65 KB
    Works with firefox 113.0 and later, android 142.0 and later
    Version 1.3.0: Kokoro TTS web page reader is now ReadAloud Studio

    New name, new look, and much more choice in how pages are read and summarized. Your existing servers and settings carry over.

    Two speech servers with automatic fallback
    • Set up Server 1 and Server 2, each with its own engine: Kokoro, Unsloth Studio, DeepInfra, OpenRouter or ElevenLabs.
    • Switch between them with one click in the popup.
    • If the server in use goes down, reading continues on the other one, and you are told.

    More engines and AI providers
    • Unsloth Studio speech models. Pick a model from the list and it is loaded for you.
    • Anthropic Claude for summaries, page chat and translation.
    • Any OpenAI-compatible AI server (oMLX, vLLM, LocalAI, Jan…), alongside Ollama, LM Studio, llama.cpp and OpenAI.
    • Model lists come straight from your servers, so you choose from a menu instead of typing names.

    Easier listening
    • A new dock on each page (Read, Summarize, Ask) and a mini player while reading.
    • Clearer "going back": Previous restarts the current sentence, a second press goes to the one before, and ±10 s jumps across sentences. Recent sentences replay instantly.
    • Resume where you left off, even after leaving a page.
    • Start anywhere: Alt+click a paragraph, or select text and choose "Read aloud from here".

    New tools
    • Summary styles: bullets, TL;DR, explain simply, key quotes, or your own prompt.
    • Translate a page, then hear it read.
    • A reading queue, a sleep timer, and saving a page as one audio file.
    • Voice and speed presets per site, plus settings export and import.
    • Customizable keyboard shortcuts.

    Now on Firefox for Android
    • Works on phones and tablets (Firefox 142 or later). Select text and tap the speaker button to start reading there.

    Reliability
    • Cleaner reading: image captions, edit links and hidden text are skipped.
    • Warns you if a server returns silent audio, and switches format automatically when a server can't produce MP3.
    • Redesigned Preferences, grouped into clear sections, with light and dark themes.
    ```
    The "going back" bullet answers the earlier store review that called back navigation unclear.
