by Unbolted, 3 years agoThe YouTube dislike count has always been helpful for being able to tell whether the video content you are watching is worth your time and it's sad that YouTube owned by Google, an advertising company thinks that their excuse is valid, when deep down, they're doing this for advertisers. This extension is easy and simple and is fairly accurate. It does what it says it does, and it takes up to a second for the dislikes to load in. It isn't a RAM hog so you're alright. I am just grateful such feature like this is free, the dislike count has been apart of how I check for content I see as worth my time, I don't want to waste my time on a 10 minute video of misinformation, when a clear indicator from easy to view user feedback is good enough!
I think a suggestion which is probably common but still worth for me to share is to have a dislike count for comments and community posts. I think comment dislike counts are highly underrated because number 1, some comments can spread misinformation, and you just wouldn't know, because a comment with 1.4K likes seems trustworthy to an average user who is not bothered to research. Since YouTube says that with the removal of the dislike button, comments should be your go to, and with their terrible filtering system and easy abuse from creators, I can really see this as a helpful indicator for many people!
The same goes for community posts, with a much larger options for these influencers to spread further misinformation, and the comment section can easily be abused by the creator. I was thinking ways to implement this would be an option in this extension or making an entirely new extension, maybe called "Return YouTube Dislike+" where it has those extra features.
Now something to keep in mind, the more people that use this, the more accurate the dislike count will be, so on behalf of the community, we all highly recommend you share this extension to others!

These apps just invent fake numbers based on extrapolations from the tiny minority of people that install the apps, which self-selects for a sad, dislike-obsessed population of people, skewing the numbers more negative than they actually are.
