Save SVG by Martin Thomson

This simple extension allows you to right click and save inline SVG images.

Regular SVG images (those that use <code>>img<</code>) can be downloaded like any other picture. Inline SVG images can't. They are built into the page. This extension adds a context menu item that can be used to download an inline SVG image; use the "Save Image As..." option if that exists.

Right now, this only works for SVG images that are standalone. Inline SVG in HTML can include features that will break when the image is saved. In particular, this includes references to content outside of the SVG itself: embedded images, CSS style rules, and SVG elements. These features are rarely used, because it makes authoring awkward, but they can cause the image to be broken if they are. This is also why your browser doesn't offer a download option natively: because it's hard to guarantee that the resulting SVG won't be busted.

This extension uses "activeTab", "contextMenus", and "menus", and "scripting" permissions for reasons that should be fairly obvious.
