Overview
Sitehue does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data or browsing information. All website customization preferences stay locally on your device.
What data is stored locally
Sitehue stores only the visual customization settings you configure inside the extension:
- Your Global Customization Profile (fonts, text sizes, background and text colors, visual filter sliders, reading width, and custom CSS rules).
- Your Per-Website Overrides (domain names you explicitly customize and the properties you override for each).
- Your Access Gate preferences (Open Mode, Exclusion List or Allowlist, and the domain names in that list).
How data is stored
All preferences are saved exclusively in your browser's local extension storage on your device (Chrome, Firefox and Opera builds behave identically). No data is synced to external servers or transmitted over the network by Sitehue.
The popup and Studio use interface fonts (Figtree, JetBrains Mono, Literata) bundled inside the extension, so opening them makes no network request. Only when you apply a typography choice to a webpage (or enter a custom font name) does your browser load that typeface directly from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com) so it can render on that page and in the Studio preview. These requests are made by your browser to Google without any Sitehue data attached; as for any web font, they reveal your IP address and browser details to Google.
Third-party services and data sharing
- Sitehue does not use analytics, telemetry, tracking pixels, cookies, or advertising SDKs.
- Sitehue does not share, sell, or transfer any user data to third parties.
Donation links: the Studio contains links to GitHub Sponsors and Buy Me a Coffee, and the popup footer contains a link to GitHub Sponsors. The extension only opens these pages in a new tab when you click them and sends no data to either service. Once open, those pages are operated by those services under their own privacy policies.
Data retention and deletion
Your settings remain on your device until you modify or delete them. You can reset overrides or remove per-website rules from the popup or Studio, export your configuration to a local JSON file, reset everything with Reset Defaults, or uninstall the extension, which deletes all local extension storage.
Changes
If Sitehue's data practices ever change, this policy will be updated with a new date before release.
