About this extension
Speed Bumper — Intentional Friction for Mindful Browsing
Speed Bumper is a WebExtension designed to help you curb impulsive browsing habits through intentional friction rather than outright
website bans.

Instead of completely blocking your favorite websites, Speed Bumper introduces a full-screen reflection pause whenever you visit specified
URL patterns (such as YouTube Shorts, Reddit subreddits, or social feeds). A countdown overlay gives you time to pause, reflect, and make
an intentional decision before continuing.

### Key Features

• URL Path Pattern Matching: Target specific sections of websites (e.g. youtube.com/shorts/, reddit.com/r/, example.com/feed/*) without
blocking the entire site.
• Per-Rule Custom Timers:
• Wait Duration: Set a reflection countdown delay (from 1 second up to 1 hour).
• Allow / Cooldown Duration: Define how long you can browse after the countdown finishes before the overlay triggers again (from 0
minutes up to 7 days).
• Pattern-Based Cooldowns: Completing a countdown on one URL grants a temporary cooldown window for all pages matching that same rule
pattern.
• Friction-Protected Settings: Changing rule settings, toggling rules on/off, or opening options requires a 10-second reflection pause,
preventing impulsive rule disabling.
• Single Page Application (SPA) Support: Automatically detects navigation changes on dynamic modern web applications (like YouTube and
Reddit) without requiring full page reloads.
• Anti-Bypass DOM Protection: Overlays render in an isolated closed Shadow DOM with scroll-locking and automatic DOM restoration to ensure
reflection pauses remain effective.
