Swatchbuckler ("the extension") is published by Keelwright Studio ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the extension does with data.
Summary
- We run no servers for this extension and receive none of your data.
- The extension has no accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking.
- Captures are stored only in your browser until you export or discard them.
- Two optional features send limited data to third parties: the font lookup and Claude assist. Both can be turned off, and Claude assist is off until you enable it.
What the extension processes on your device
When you start a session or capture a page, the extension reads the page you chose: its styles, layout, visible text, image and font references, and measurements of how the page is laid out. It also takes screenshots of the visible tab while a manual capture scrolls the page, to read the colors of pictures. Those screenshots are used for color reading and then discarded, unless Claude assist is on (see below).
The result (a "capture") is held in the extension's local storage in your browser profile until you export it or choose Discard. Exporting writes a zip file to your Downloads folder; if the "Include raw capture data" setting is on (the default), the zip contains capture.json with the captured page data.
Your settings, and your Claude API key if you enter one, are also stored locally in the extension's storage. The key is stored unencrypted within your browser profile, as with other extension settings.
Captures can contain content from the sites you visit. Please only capture pages you are entitled to use.
What can leave your device
- Font lookup (on by default; Settings → Export)
To suggest fonts, the extension requests https://fonts.googleapis.com/css2?... with the names of the font families used on the captured site. Nothing else from the page is included. Google receives this request, and its IP address and standard request metadata, under Google's privacy policy. The pages the extension generates in the export may also load those fonts from Google when you open them. Turn the setting off to keep the export fully offline.
- Claude assist (off by default; Settings → Claude assist)
If you enable it and add your own Anthropic API key, then when you export, the extension sends a request directly from your browser to https://api.anthropic.com containing:
- a summary of the capture: the site's name and host, the paths of captured pages, its headline, introductory text and navigation labels, colors, font names and component data; and
- depending on the options you choose, screenshots of the visible page, for the visual review and the Claude-designed export style.
Requests are made with your key and are governed by Anthropic's terms and privacy policy. We do not see these requests or their results. The key is sent only to api.anthropic.com.
What we do not do
We do not sell or share user data, use it for advertising or credit decisions, or transfer it to anyone except as described above at your direction. No human at Keelwright Studio reads your captures. The use of information received from browser APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Permissions
The extension requests browser permissions only to do what it describes: reading the pages you choose, storing captures locally, taking screenshots for color reading, and downloading the export. The reason for each is listed in the extension's store listing.
Retention and deletion
Captures stay in local storage until you export and discard them or press Discard. Removing the extension deletes its stored data. Files you have exported are yours to manage. Data sent to Google or Anthropic is retained according to those companies' policies; we cannot delete it for you.
Children
The extension is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date above, and describe any material change in the extension's release notes.
