by charleskimbac, 6 months agoas someone recently coming from chrome and uses YTM web for music, this (with the "mark domains" feature) is a great substitute for the chrome audio controller. (although i wish i could more easily playback/skip songs)

- Rated 5 out of 5by LucasPestana, 3 years agoI am a Windows user from Brazil, and my Firefox UI language is set to PT-BR (Brazilian Portuguese) is set.
In PT-BR, the "File" menu is translated/localized as "Arquivo".
As such, UNFORTUNATELY, this add-on does NOT work for me -- because Alt+Shift+A (just like Alt+A) invokes the Arquivo/File menu by default.
PS: I suspect this might also affect ES-AR/ES-CL/ES-ES/ES-MX (Spanish) users, because for them, this menu is localized as "Archivo"; see these: https://i0.wp.com/windtux.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/importacion-menu-archivo-firefox-67.jpeg http://www.calculofacil.com.mx/imag/soporte/manPrint/firefox1.jpg
PPS: However, I think this problem should not affect PT-PT (European Portuguese) users, in case "File" is localized as "Ficheiro" for them: https://pplware.sapo.pt/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/firefox_00_thumb.jpg http://www.esa.ipb.pt/medchem/images/database/database-4.png
PLEASE, offer a way to either force-override† Firefox's default Alt+SHIFT+A (unneeded, because we have Alt+A already for Arquivo/Archivo) -- and/or, an option within the add-on to change the keyboard shortcut to something else.
† To my own surprise, it seems that YES, at least some add-ons CAN (force-)override Firefox's own default shortcuts -- for instance, I was able to remap Ctrl+Shift+N to "New Private Window" (like Chrome/Edge) using ShortKeys: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/shortkeys/
Thank you.
=====
Edit: sigh, nevermind; my bad here! This add-on didn't work and invoked the menu instead because/when I had no audible tabs open. When there is one, it does work fine. Sorry for the inconvenience.Developer response

- Rated 5 out of 5by pbristow, 3 years agoAfter using it for a couple of years, this is now the first add-on I install on any new FF instance. I tend to have a *lot* of tabs open, especially Youtube and other video tabs, sometimes radio ones as well, and sometimes while listening I'm also reading some text information on some other tab somewhere... Then someone in the video says, "I mean, look at *this*!" ... And I want to look, but I can't find my way back to the video. "Switch to audible tab" solves that problem for me, very simply, and very reliably.
*Occasionally* it seems to get confused, and start taking me to other tabs that aren't actively playing sound, but that is very rare. It doesn't happen often enough for me to have spotted any pattern as to when and why it occurs, so I can't help diagnose the cause, alas. But hey: "Only ever one problem, and even that's extremely rare" ... How many other pieces of software can claim that? =:o}Developer response

> *Occasionally* it seems to get confused, and start taking me to other tabs that aren't actively playing sound
Can it be because of notification following feature? If there was a sound in a tab within last 10 seconds, it is treated as audible. I think that's the only possibility for it to switch to a tab that is not really audible, assuming default settings.
Or it's a bug I haven't observed yet. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 17349507, 3 years ago

I haven't found out yet which key-combo works on the Mac, and Option-Shift-A didn't do it for me. But a click on the icon just works.Developer response
