Söz Firefox Extension Privacy Policy

1. Scope of this policy

This Privacy Policy applies only to the Söz browser extension for Mozilla Firefox.

It does not replace the separate Privacy Policy for the Söz mobile app, its widgets, or the getsoz.com website.

The extension works without registration or a Söz account. It does not create an advertising profile or use a persistent identifier to recognize you across websites.

1. Information stored in your browser

The extension stores only the information needed to remember your preferences and schedule learning.

This information is stored locally using Firefox extension storage associated with Söz in your browser profile.

The extension may store extension settings, including whether it is enabled, interface language, whether skipping is allowed, onboarding status, and an optional local developer debug flag.

It may also store learning progress, including completed and correct answer counts, streak, per-word review state, ease, next review date, and lapse count.

This information is not sent to Söz servers.

1. How YouTube pages are processed

On youtube.com, the extension checks whether the current page is a standard video watch page and locates the main video player so it can pause playback, show a learning exercise, and resume playback after the exercise.

It also checks whether playback is an advertisement, a live stream, or fullscreen so it can avoid interrupting at an inappropriate time.

A YouTube video ID may be held temporarily in the memory of the current browser tab to count a distinct video once.

The video ID is not written to persistent storage, is not sent to Söz, and is not used to create a watch history.

The extension does not collect video titles, channel names, subtitles, audio, video content, or your YouTube account information.

1. Network requests and sharing

Exercises, word data, brand assets, settings, and scheduling logic are packaged with the extension.

The extension does not send learning progress to a Söz server and does not include advertising SDKs, third-party trackers, or server-side analytics providers.

The extension opens getsoz.com only after you click a Söz link.

That link may include UTM parameters identifying that the visit came from the Firefox extension and the placement you clicked. These parameters do not contain your answers, learning progress, YouTube information, or a user identifier.

Once getsoz.com opens, the separate Söz website and app Privacy Policy applies to that visit.

1. Browser permissions

The Firefox extension requests only the permissions needed for its functionality.

Storage is used to save extension settings and learning progress locally in Firefox.

Access to https://www.youtube.com/ and https://m.youtube.com/ is used to locate and control the main YouTube video player and display Söz learning exercises on YouTube pages.

The extension does not inject its content script into other websites.

1. Optional local debug events

Developer debug events are disabled by default and are not used as normal analytics.

If debug mode is explicitly enabled in the extension's local state, the extension may store up to 200 interface events locally, such as an exercise being shown, answered, or skipped.

These events remain on the device and do not include a YouTube URL, video title, or video ID.

1. Your controls and data deletion

You can disable YouTube exercises or reset your learning progress from the extension settings.

Removing the Söz extension from Firefox deletes its local extension storage, including settings, learning progress, and locally stored debug events.

Because the extension has no Söz account or backend synchronization, Söz cannot remotely identify or delete data that exists only inside your browser.

1. Changes and contact

We may update this Privacy Policy if the Firefox extension's permissions, storage, or data flows change.

When we make changes, the effective date of this policy will be updated.
