If I change colour for black, Tab Counter is always in red.

You're welcome. I use Firefox 52.0 x86 and Cyberfox 52.0 x86 (Intel).

Thank you for trying about my new addon! I'm not having this issue, but I think I may know what's causing it. What version of Firefox are you running?

In about:addons, click the gear in the top right to install from a ZIP file.
