Tab Prettier Privacy Policy
Effective October 20, 2026
Tab Prettier is a browser extension (Chrome, Edge and Firefox) that replaces the new tab page with a composed anime scene and a set of everyday tools. The developer runs no servers, and the extension does not collect, store or sell any user data. It contains no analytics or tracking. The only thing that reaches the developer is a problem report you choose to send (see "Problem reports" below).
Data kept on your computer
The following stays in your browser and never reaches the developer:
- Settings, pinned links, to-dos, notes and the sites you list for focus reminders. If you turn on your browser's sync, these sync between your devices through your browser account (Google for Chrome, Microsoft for Edge, Mozilla for Firefox) and are handled under that company's privacy policy.
- Prepared pictures (character cut-outs, depth maps), your favourite and hidden pictures, and pictures you upload. All image processing happens on your computer; nothing is uploaded.
- Your AniList sign-in token, only if you sign in to AniList.
When you turn on the matching feature and grant the permission, the extension reads your browsing history, open tabs, recently closed tabs and top sites to show search suggestions and the links panel. This is read on your computer only and never sent anywhere.
Data sent to third-party services
Some features connect to the services below. Data goes straight from your browser to the service, never through the developer:
- Wallhaven, Danbooru, Nekosia, waifu.im: Search terms (scenes, tags, character names, which may include characters from your AniList list). Fetching background and character pictures.
- Open-Meteo: Approximate location (latitude and longitude to two decimals, or the city you enter). Weather, when turned on.
- ipwho.is / ipinfo.io: Only the connection itself (your IP address). Finding your city when weather is set to locate automatically.
- Google search suggestions: Text you type in the search box. Only when you turn on search suggestions.
- AniList: Sign-in token. Reading your own anime list, only after you sign in.
Any website you connect to can see your IP address and browser details. These services handle data under their own privacy policies.
In Firefox, turning on weather (location) or search suggestions (search terms) first asks for your consent to send that data; without it the feature stays off.
Problem reports
"Report a problem" on the settings page opens a Google Form. Whether to fill it in and send it is up to you; the extension never sends anything by itself. When it opens, only your browser and the extension's version are filled in through the link, to save you looking them up, and you can change them before sending.
Once sent, what you entered (the kind of report, browser, version, description, steps to reproduce, and an email address if you leave one) is stored in the developer's Google Forms, used only to handle the report and reply to you, and never used for anything else or passed on. Google handles form data under its own privacy policy. To have a report you sent deleted, email the address below.
Please don't include passwords, account details or other private information in a report.
What we never do
- Sell or transfer data to third parties.
- Use data for anything unrelated to the extension's features.
- Use data to determine creditworthiness or for lending.
Deleting your data
You can sign out of AniList or turn off weather and search suggestions on the settings page. Removing the extension deletes the data stored on your computer; synced data can be cleared in your browser account's sync settings.
