by waykool geek, 5 years agoVery useful. I can continue opening sites in tab. After a duration, depending of a number of tabs open, (all configurable) the tabs are closed, more memory is free ... You don't bother closing the tabs anymore and even after closing you can still find the urls of the sites you visited

- Rated 3 out of 5by CodeIcannot, a year agoThis is an interesting add-on, that sounds good 'on paper', but has some issues, too. Its functionality is great - you can set up rules by which to auto-close tabs, and also revive them from a backlog, if need be.
However, the user-interface is really clunky, and the add-on comes with really weird default rules. You are more than likely to wipe out ALL your tabs (without warning!) before you figure out how to correctly setup everything. For this reason, I would only recommend trying this out on a completely "blank" browser.
I wish someone would pick up this project and truly make it shine, because at its core, it does a good job.Developer response
posted a year ago(developer here) Thank you for the feedback. v7 increases the default saved tabs to 1,000. I will continue to look at initial install experience. - Rated 5 out of 5by Samuel Nihoul, a year ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by Ernst Hot, a year agoIts default settings of closing everything older than 20 mins but only remembering 100 tabs (WHY?!?) threw away a bunch of my tabs. The ones I could re-open didn't open in the window they were in originally.

posted a year agoThank you for the the feedback. v7 increases the default stored tabs to the max of 1,000. I can increase the default time beyond 20 minutes as well because this appears to be too short for most users. - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 15184708, 2 years agoA very nice addon, BUT: it installs enabled and can f your session up. Should install disabled and let you play with the settings before doing anything.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Ite Ego, 2 years agoImmediate impression isn't great at all -- I had over 800 tabs open, and as soon as I installed this, it immediately closed nearly everything, due to the unfortunate default settings (mere 20 minutes timeout, 5 open tabs).
Instant regret.
The extension should obviously start off *Disabled/Paused*, prompt/wait for the user to configure their own settings and enable the extension, before it starts closing any tabs.
(And no, having to re-open hundreds of tabs from the "Corral" is not the same thing.
For one, the tabs don't get restored in the original order.
For another, I have to re-login to a great many sites, demanding attention. All these tabs have also become active, now demanding resources.
For another -- as far as I can tell, the Corral only holds the last 100 tabs closed, because that was the extension's unfortunate default -- the remaining 700+ tabs I had open are just lost.)Developer response
posted a year agoThank you for the feedback. v7 increases the stored # of tabs to 1,000. I will increase defaults across the board so the installation experience is better. - Rated 5 out of 5by emvaized, 2 years agoPlease add an option to disable Tab Wrangler's context menu entry on web page

- Rated 1 out of 5by CFH3, 2 years agoDoesn't appear to work - the timer for tabs is being reset on browser restart so nothing ever actually closes if you set a long timeout.
- Rated 3 out of 5by paulkoan, 3 years agoI prefer my tabs to auto-close after a week. so 10000 minutes. However it looks like TW doesn't track timers across browser reloads.

posted a year agoThe default command was removed, there is no longer a conflict. You can define the shortcut yourself now in Firefox's addons page. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14492471, 4 years ago
