About this extension
Text Copier for Wikipedia copies the body text of the Wikipedia article you are reading to the clipboard with a single click on the toolbar button.
Reference markers such as [1], footnotes, and other non-body elements are removed, so you can paste clean text into a text editor, notes, or other tools.
What is copied
- The article title and body: paragraphs, headings, lists, and tables
- Headings are written as #, ##, and so on; lists as "- " and "1. "; tables as Markdown tables; and math formulas as LaTeX ($...$ and $$...$$)
- All other text is plain text, with links, bold, and other styling removed
What is removed
- Reference markers ([1]), note markers, [edit] links, and tags such as [citation needed]
- Table of contents, notes, references, external links, and "See also" sections
- Infoboxes, images and captions, navigation boxes, and maintenance notices
Supported pages
- Articles on all language editions of Wikipedia, including the mobile site (*.m.wikipedia.org)
- If you click the button on any other page, nothing is copied and a message is shown
Privacy
- This extension does not collect or send any data. All processing is done in your browser.
- It accesses a page only when you click the toolbar button (activeTab).
Permissions
- activeTab, scripting: read the text of the current tab when you click the button
- clipboardWrite: copy the text to the clipboard
