TikTok Turbo – Blazing fast, zero freezes by Senooy
TikTok web, finally blazing fast on Firefox. Kills the in-browser "AI super-resolution" that upscales every frame and freezes the player, forces hardware-decoded H.264 and blocks telemetry. Zero setup, insane performance.

About this extension
TikTok on Firefox lagging, stuttering, freezing? It's not your PC.
⚡ What's really going on
TikTok's web app is packed with technical slop: about 190 JavaScript files (3.5 MB), six monitoring scripts (several duplicated), and above all an "AI super-resolution" running inside your browser.
TikTok hides the real video (opacity 0) and lays a 1080p canvas on top. On every single frame it copies the image, ships it to a WebAssembly + WebGL worker that upscales it from 720p to 1080p, then draws it. Thirty times a second. On Firefox, that GPU → CPU copy on every frame is brutally expensive: stutter, freezes, screaming fans. TikTok only turns it off after it has measured dropped frames… then turns it back on for the next video.
On top of that, TikTok probes for H.265 and AV1 hundreds of times and serves them as soon as the browser says yes, even if Firefox ends up decoding them on the CPU.
🚀 What TikTok Turbo does
Result: the player shows the video directly, no background upscaler in the way. Smooth, light, blazing fast.
🎛 Settings popup to toggle everything, with live counters.
🔒 Privacy: no data collected, no server, no account. Everything runs locally.
Independent extension, not affiliated with TikTok or ByteDance.

🚀 What TikTok Turbo does
- Kills the AI super-resolution, cleanly: TikTok falls back to the native video on its own.
- Forces H.264, hardware-decoded on every GPU.
- Blocks telemetry (Slardar SDK, monitoring, event logs) with Firefox's native network filter.
- Pauses videos that scroll off-screen.
- Only renders visible thumbnails on profiles and search results.
- Removes expensive backdrop blurs.
- Aggressive options: block LIVE streams, disable animations.
