TranslatorX — Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 26, 2026
- Overview
TranslatorX is a browser extension that translates entire web pages or selected text using third-party translation services.
TranslatorX does not operate its own server and does not include developer-operated analytics or telemetry. The extension processes information locally where possible and sends the content necessary for translation directly to the selected translation provider.
- Information Processed
Website content
When you request a page translation, TranslatorX sends the text selected for translation to the configured translation provider. When using DeepL to translate an entire page, the page title and nearby text may also be sent as context to improve translation quality.
When you translate selected text, only the selected text is submitted for translation.
If automatic translation is enabled, TranslatorX processes eligible text on the current page and on subsequent pages according to your settings.
TranslatorX does not intentionally send the page URL as part of its translation requests. Translation providers may nevertheless receive your IP address and standard network metadata when your browser connects to their services.
API keys
If you configure DeepL API or Google Cloud Translation, your API keys are stored in the browser's local extension storage. They are sent to the corresponding provider when needed to perform translations or retrieve DeepL API usage information.
TranslatorX does not operate a server that receives or stores these API keys.
Local settings
TranslatorX stores preferences such as your selected translation engine, source and target languages, automatic translation setting, and favorite engine locally in your browser.
The extension also stores the most recent translation status and relevant provider error details so they can be displayed when the popup is reopened. This status information does not contain page text or API keys.
- Third-Party Services
TranslatorX may send translation requests to the following services, depending on your selected engine and configuration:
- DeepL API: https://www.deepl.com/en/privacy
- Google Cloud Translation: https://cloud.google.com/terms
- Google Translate: https://translate.googleapis.com/
Each provider processes requests according to its own terms and privacy practices. TranslatorX does not control how these providers handle information after receiving it.
Please review the relevant provider's policies before submitting confidential, personal, or otherwise sensitive content for translation.
- Optional Automatic Translation and Permissions
Automatic translation is disabled by default. Enabling it requires additional browser permissions to access websites and process eligible content on the current page and future pages.
You can disable automatic translation through the extension's interface and revoke its website access permissions through your browser's extension settings.
You can also remove a saved API key through the extension's settings. Removing a key deletes it from the extension's local storage.
- Donations and External Links
TranslatorX includes optional links to PayPal, Mercado Pago, NOWPayments, Instagram, and Discord.
These services open in a new browser tab only when you select the corresponding link. TranslatorX does not embed their pages inside the extension or track visits to its support screen.
Once you visit an external service, its own privacy policy and terms apply.
- Data Sharing and Sale
TranslatorX does not sell your personal information or operate an intermediary server for translation requests. The content required to perform a translation is sent directly to the selected translation provider.
External services may process information such as your IP address and request metadata as part of providing their services.
- Data Retention and Security
Translation preferences, API keys, and the most recent translation status are stored locally in your browser's extension storage.
TranslatorX does not maintain a developer-operated database of translated page content or API keys. Translation providers may retain or process submitted content according to their own policies and terms.
You can remove saved API keys and disable automatic translation through the extension's interface and browser settings.
- Children's Privacy
TranslatorX is not specifically designed to collect personal information from children. It does not operate an account system or request personal information for registration.
- Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated when TranslatorX's functionality, permissions, translation providers, or data practices change. The latest version will be published at the policy URL listed in the extension's store listing.
