TruthLens add-on is a complimentary extension for Truth Lens service.
It's main purpose is to provide trueness indication of web pages as commented by subject area experts.
The add-on places a small button on the top left corner of the webpage to provide an option to obtain the trueness indication. Say the user is reading an online article about a medical topic. The addon button provides the user an option to obtain the trueness indication by experts for the article. The user has to first request that a trueness indication be obtained. If any medical experts have commented about the webpage on some of the social media sites then the add-on button when clicked shows the number of medical experts that commented about the trueness of the webpage. When the user clicks on the button, the user is taken to Truth Lens service with links to the comments of the medical experts at the respective social media sites. The Truth Lens service independently verifies the expertise of all the experts whose comments and ratings are used. If no expert has yet commented about the trueness, the button offers the user an option to go to Truth Lens service and request experts to comment/rate the trueness of the web page. If the person reading the article is an expert, then the expert can use the button to visit the Truth Lens service and rate/comment on the trueness of the article. The user at any time can close the TruthLens button if it is obscuring any part of the web page.
For this purpose the add-on embeds the truthlens button to any web page where the web page does not obscure the truthlens button.
1. When a web page is loaded, the add-on just displays a button providing the user an option to obtain the trueness indication. (If you do not want to explicitly click on the button every time you want to get the truthfulness indication, please use our "Auto Truth Lens" add-on and not this add-on "Truth Lens". This add-on helps people who need to explicitly click a button to obtain the trueness indication.)
