Privacy policy for Turk Guru | For Mturk
Turk Guru | For Mturk by Kartik Watwani
Your relationship with us starts after you install our chrome extension. We use Firebase's authentication service to create your Turk Guru account automatically when you install the extension.
We save some of the data that you generate while using our services like favorite and blocked requesters, favorite and blocked keywords, time spent completing a HIT by a requester to calculate a wage rate for that requester, machine learning model on a backend database for the smooth working of our extension, making the extension work on Amazon Mechanical Turk worker website. We don't save your mturk worker ID as it is, although we convert it using modern cryptographic methods before sending it to our servers to create your Turk Guru account.
The data is sent to the database using a working internet connection, which could incur charges to you by your service provider, and we are in no way responsible for those charges.
While installing the extension, you may have to accept to provide our extensions few permissions. We want to bring to your knowledge the reasons for asking for those permissions.
Declarative content permission: We use this permission to enable extension popup only on worker.mturk.com by clicking the Turk Guru logo.
Storage permission: We need this permission to save some of the users' data locally to improve data access speed so that the extension doesn't always request the back-end database for data.
Unlimited storage permission: We need this permission to save relatively large data like the data related to the user's past liked and disliked HITs(tasks) to be saved locally.
Identity permission: We use this permission to check your chrome Web Store license status for the Turk Guru extension.
Tabs permission: We need this permission to watch whether there are existing tabs that point to the mturk worker website to check whether the assignment page for a given HIT is already open. This helps in the automatic return of HITs, which is one of the Turk Guru extension features. We also need this permission to open new HITs in the new tab.
webRequest permission: We need this permission to update Turk Guru reports, which consist of the number and reward amount of HITs submitted, returned.
ContextMenus permission: We need this permission to allow you to assign favorite and blocked requesters just by right-clicking on the requester link.
https://worker.mturk.com/*: We need this permission to check for available HITs periodically and check the HITs queue and past submitted HITs.
Apart from this, to prevent multiple free trials, we link the IP addresses with the user's Turk Guru account during the installation of the extension.
