About this extension
Twitch chat stops showing new messages for a while, then "reconnects"? It mostly happens in Firefox on streams with a quiet chat, and you miss the messages that arrive during the gap. Twitch Chat Keepalive fixes it.
Firefox can silently drop the idle WebSocket connection that Twitch chat uses. Twitch only notices after a long delay, so chat freezes and then reconnects. This does not happen in Chromium browsers.
This extension collects no data, stores nothing, and makes no network requests of its own. It only runs on twitch.tv and only talks to the same Twitch chat server your browser already connects to.
It prevents disconnections, but it cannot recover messages that were already lost in a past one. Pop-out chat and embedded chat are covered too.
Tested on Waterfox. Requires Firefox 140 or newer.

- Keeps the connection alive: sends a lightweight keepalive PING to Twitch chat every 20 seconds, so the connection never sits idle long enough to be dropped.
- Recovers instantly: if the connection dies without notice (no data for 50 seconds), it closes it right away so Twitch's own chat reconnects immediately instead of after a long freeze.
- No settings, no buttons, no accounts: install it and it just works on twitch.tv.
- Tiny and transparent: a few dozen lines of readable code, no build step.
- Does not change how Twitch looks or behaves, and works alongside other Twitch extensions.

If chat still freezes or reconnects, please leave a review with your Firefox/Waterfox version and what you were watching, and I'll take a look.
Tip: with the browser console open (F12), the extension logs a message whenever it has to force a reconnection.
