by Gary_Internet, 8 years agoI have been a Firefox beta channel user on a laptop or Desktop PC since September 2011. The last update was to Firefox 57 so Adblock Plus stopped working which was annoying.
I thought "What the hell, I'll give this one a go because the adverts are annoying me." and installed uBlock Origin.
I didn't do anything to it immediately after installation and haven't done anything to it since. As in nothing.
It's now been at least 3 weeks if not 4, and I haven't seen a single advert and haven't suffered any loss of performance.
I'm all for being loyal to a brand or a name like Adblock, but why should I suffer whilst they get their act together?
OK, maybe a little harsh as Firefox 57 doesn't get released until November 14th 2017, so they have until then, but uBlock Origin works just as well.
What do I want in an adblocker? Something that blocks all the adverts without me having to do anything. That's exactly what uBlock Origin does.
If by November 14th rolls around Adblock haven't got something sorted, everyone should install uBlock Origin because it works just as well.
Here's the thing, it works so well that until it stops working this well, I won't be switching back. Why bother. Granted it would take seconds to do so, but as far as user experience is concerned, I can't tell the difference.
