Does what it says on the tin. Really convenient and easy to configure. Also can make videos smaller which comes in handy for the low bitrate for 1080p on YouTube.

One of those extensions that you forget you even have installed, because it really should just be how things work. Then you go to another browser and enter Letterbox Hell™️ before remembering how dang useful it is.

I am downloading Opera GX right now to see what's the sourcery behind their RGX mode.

If possible with Web technologies, I will implement it into the extension for sure.

Apparently they do something within their browser implementation - internally.
However, I've been able to whip something up quickly and achieve better results:
