    • Overlay could get stuck open. The close control only existed in the panel header, which the loading, signed-out and crashed states never rendered — with the launcher hidden while docked, an auth error left the panel open with no way out. The close control now renders in every panel state, behind an error boundary that keeps a closable shell even when a child crashes, and closing posts straight to the overlay host (background message as fallback) targeting the top frame by id. A popup toggle was added as a manual escape hatch.
    • Random sign-outs mid-session. Concurrent 401s each rotated the session token independently, so losers cleared the session the winner had just stored. Refresh now shares one in-flight rotation and only clears the session when the server actually rejects it — not on network or 5xx failures.
    • BC panes rendering underneath the docked panel. The page offset narrows , but position: fixed elements still resolved against the viewport (BC's Settings pane was the visible case). now gets a transform while docked so it becomes the containing block for fixed descendants; the page's own inline transform is captured on dock and restored on close.
    • Unusable "environment-only" connection. A BC URL without a company query param (e.g. /Production) produced {environment: "Production", company: ""} — a broken connection that looked selected. A URL now only yields a connection when it carries both parts; a company-less URL falls back to the portal default only if that default is on the same environment, otherwise nothing is selected. Chat shows a dismissable notice when a session ends up with no connection (hidden while session detail is still loading).
