by Saad, 4 years agoIn Instagram, the voice of the videos is mute by default, and I always have to click and enable the sound of all videos one by one (in posts or stories). Can not make the sound of any video automatically play?

- Rated 5 out of 5by spark9, 6 months agoIt works as of 2024. I'm yet to find another extension that actually does help. Even provides volume controls.
However, keeps muting and background playing videos when switching tabs. You need to pause the video to start it up. Prevents Instagram Tags from working. Scrubbing mutes the video. If these are deal breakers for you, don't install. - Rated 5 out of 5by H2SO4, 6 months ago
- Rated 4 out of 5by BLZGK3, 8 months agoI do like the interface of this extension compared to the others. There's 2 issues I have though.
1. To get the controls to even display, I constantly need to pause the video first, then press play which it would pop up at the bottom of the video soon after. Not a big deal, but it does gets kinda annoying after a while.
2. Once the controls activates, the tag button that displays people tagged in the video disappears. Many other extensions that are similar to this have the same issue, but it would be nice if that got fixed.
Other than that, it functions like it should. - Rated 4 out of 5by Elias Z, 9 months agoThis extension is awesome overall. It fixes some of what I think are the biggest annoyances with Instagram.
I only gave it 4 out of 5 stars though, because it has an annoyance of its own. Whenever I jump to a position in a video, to rewind or fast forward it, the sound becomes muted, and I have to unmute it. I wish this would be fixed.
But other than that, this extension is awesome. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13883959, a year agoWorks like a charm! Would love if it can work in feed as well. And yes, why isn't that already a feature?!
- Rated 4 out of 5by Syth, 2 years agoThe idea is great, execution slightly buggy.
My biggest gripe is that reels opened from DMs don't show video controls until you pause and play them. - Rated 3 out of 5by Dimitri001, 2 years agoIt's a good add-on, but it needs to load a bit faster. As it is, if you open a story, it will just show a black screen for a long time until it loads and it will often not load by the time it switches to the next story.
Maybe a temporary solution is to have the add-on show you the story even before it loads and then the scrubbing controls come up once it's loaded.
Also, the scrubbing controls sometimes overlap with the Instagram controls (like the bar for typing comments in stories).
Furthermore, a video will start muted, you unmute it and then pull the slider back to the beginning of the video and that mutes the video again. Very frustrating. Once you unmute it should stay so until you mute it again manually.
A good add-on, but needs some work. - Rated 1 out of 5by SuSu, 2 years ago

- Rated 5 out of 5by Winícius, 2 years agoPretty neat addon, just wish there was an option to stop autoplay.
- Rated 3 out of 5by BWX, 3 years agoAll the videos are always muted with this add-on. Have to un-mute them, but the controls for this add-on are covering the un-mute button. Also when you go full screen and then back to windowed video, the video is off-center or broken completely, and you get a black screen. And if you watch a vid from a profile, then hit the back button, all the text on screen is "selected" and highlighted" as if you are holding your mouse left button down even though you're not. And you have to "de-select" all that text by clicking left mouse button. Very buggy, and broken in most ways.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 15135002, 5 years agoNot sure if this is what's supposed to happen or if I'm doing anything wrong, but this extension does absolutely nothing for me. I just installed it yesterday and as soon as I enabled it, all I see on instagram is this box in the lower left-hand corner that says "Video Scrubber: Trial Expired", which is apparently a link. When I click it, it takes me to the support/license purchase page, itself clearly stating that the extension is free for the 1st month and that I have to purchase a license to continue after that, yadda yadda, just like it states here on AMO.
But that's not my issue with it. I already knew that going in, not a gacha or anything. The problem is that I have not been able to use it AT ALL, not even once, to test it or anything. Absolutely NONE of the features work, I can't pause/play with space, there isn't even a seek bar, nothing. It's as if the extension thinks I have already used it for 30 days when in fact I haven't at all. I have confirmed this multiple times by disabling/re-enabling, re-installing, I tried everything. I'd gladly pay for it if I knew it actually worked and I liked the features, I mean it's only $1.50/yr. But as it is, I honestly don't know anything.Developer response
posted 5 years agoDear Sir or Madam! You emailed me with this and I replied! Check your spam folder / get back at me. - Rated 5 out of 5by Moose, 5 years agoGreat extension, works great. Dev responded to msg fast and was very nice.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14373626, 5 years agoI get it, developers need to make money, but switching a free extension to a paid annual subscription one is such a crap move. This one should have been kept free and then a new paid "pro" version should have been added for people who might want whatever future features the developer claims they may add someday.

posted 5 years agoHey there - hit me up if you want a license. I've been giving early users free licenses.
Also, as part of these changes I added some dope keyboard shortcuts and the ability to pop videos out of the page. And I'm very interested in adding more features - just let me know how to improve it! - Rated 1 out of 5by Saxayone, 5 years agoBecame trialware...
Just using Video Controls for Instagram extension instead now since it's free and does the exact same thing.Developer response
