Privacy policy for Vinzee - Voice Dictation and Smart Notes
Vinzee - Voice Dictation and Smart Notes by Vinzee - Voice Dictation and Smart Notes
This policy explains what Vinzee does with your data. It is written to be read, not to protect us — where something might surprise you, we say so plainly.
The short version
Your audio is never stored. Speech is converted to text and discarded immediately. There is no recording to retrieve, and we cannot listen to anything you dictated.
Your notes stay in your browser.Notes you save in Vinzee — including text you capture from a page and the link it came from — are stored locally on your device, not on our servers.
We do not track your browsing. Vinzee records a page address only for a note you deliberately saved on that page. It keeps no history of the sites you visit.
We do not sell your data and we do not use your dictated text to train any AI model, ever.
Speech processing — please read this part
Vinzee cannot convert speech to text on its own. It relies on a third-party speech-to-text provider. Which one you get depends on your plan:
Free plan:your browser's built-in Web Speech API is used. In Chrome and Edge, this sends audio to Google for processing. This is browser behaviour we do not control, and it happens whenever any site uses voice input in those browsers — it is not unique to Vinzee.
Starter and Advance plans: audio is streamed through our server to Deepgram, which returns text only. We do not keep the audio, and neither our server nor your browser writes it to disk at any point.
In both cases, once text is returned, the audio is gone. There is no recording to retrieve.
Saving text and pages into notes
Vinzee can save things you choose to keep: text you select and send with the “Save to Vinzee” right-click item, the contents of your clipboard when you press Paste, or the current page when you press Save page.
When a note is saved this way, Vinzee also records the page’s title, address and icon, so you can tell later where the note came from. This happens only for pages where you actually saved a note — Vinzee does not log the pages you visit, and there is no browsing history of any kind. You can turn this off with “Remember the page” in the Notes window, and notes saved afterwards will carry no source.
All of this is stored in your own browser. Capturing, searching, tagging and pinning happen entirely on your device and work with no internet connection.
AI text features
When you use auto-correct, sentence suggestions, AI spell-check, or any of the note AI features — naming a saved note, converting a note to English, pulling out action items, summarising, rewriting, turning a note into an email or a post, asking a question of your notes, or the daily digest — the relevant text, never audio, is sent to Google Gemini through our server, and the result is returned to your browser. We do not store the text we send or receive, and it is never used to train any model.
Only the text needed for that one request is sent. When you ask a question of your notes, Vinzee searches your notes on your own deviceand sends only the handful that matched — never your whole notebook. These features run on paid plans only, and only when you use them; nothing is sent in the background.
What we actually store
Account details — your name, email address, and mobile number, so you can sign in and we can deliver your licence.
Subscription records — your plan, billing period, and payment status. Card and UPI details are handled entirely by Cashfree and never reach our servers.
Licence usage — a count of requests per licence (which feature was used, and when), so we can enforce fair use and support you. This does not include the content of anything you dictated or typed.
Audio — nothing. Zero bytes. Audio is never written to disk.
Stored on your device, not ours
Your saved notes (with their tags and the page each was captured from), your custom vocabulary, your language choice, the position of the Vinzee pill, and your licence code live in your browser's own storage. Uninstalling the extension or clearing your browser data removes them permanently. We cannot recover them for you, because we never had them.
How long we keep things
Data Retention period
Audio 0 seconds — never written to disk
Usage logs Up to 12 months
Account and subscription records While your account is active, plus as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires after closure
Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, you may:
Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Ask us to correct inaccurate data
Ask us to delete your account and all associated personal data
If you are in the EU or UK, the equivalent GDPR rights apply. To exercise any of these rights, write to support@vinzee.in and we will respond within 30 days.
Cookies and analytics
This website uses cookies for two purposes:
Signing you in — one cookie that keeps your Vinzee account session active. Without it you would be logged out on every click.
Understanding how the site is used — we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read, so we know what to improve. It sets its own cookies and tells us things like page views, rough location by country and the type of device used. It does not tell us who you are, and we do not link it to your account.
We do not run advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share this data with advertisers. You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely with Google's browser add-on, or by blocking cookies for this site in your browser settings — neither affects how Vinzee works.
The extension itself carries no analytics. Nothing you dictate is ever sent to Google Analytics.
Children
Vinzee is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with their data, please contact us at support@vinzee.in and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that meaningfully affects you, we will email account holders directly rather than quietly updating the date at the top. Minor clarifications that do not change how we handle your data may be made without prior notice.
