by gaveitatry, 7 years agoI used Greasemonkey 3 for Firefox 56.0.2 for ages, and I really, really loved it! But I'm switching from Firefox 56.0.2 to 66.0.5 now, and Greasemonkey 3 no longer exists. Now there is Greasemonkey 4. I will quickly tell you three big flaws with Greasemonky 4. 1.) It no longer supports stuff like GM_addStyle, so a lot of your previous user scripts will break and stop working. 2.) Greasemonkey 4 doesn't even have word wrap on the script editor page. I kid you not. You have to continuously scroll back and forth to the right back to the left back to the right, again and again, just to see your code. and 3.) Greasemonkey 4 doesn't even have a dedicated page that lists all of your user scripts. It does include some or all of those user scripts in the popup menu that displays when you click the browser extension button, but they should have a dedicated page for all user scripts that you have installed. So I tried TamperMonkey which had the things I wanted, but the UI is ugly and some of the stuff like word wrap was buried deep and hard to find. Also, I think that word wrap in a script editor should be on by default. So then I gave VioletMonkey a try, and even though it isn't 100% perfect (it almost is), it is by far much better than Greasemonkey 4 or TamperMonkey. It supports GM_addStyle, it has a beautiful interface, easy-to-read script editor with word wrap on by default, and much more. It's also open source. I never bothered trying to edit open source stuff before, but maybe I will customize this VioletMonkey one day and make my own Monkey that has a few UI improvements. I highly, highly recommend VioletMonkey. It might be new, it might not have many users, and maybe some idiots will try to scare you away from it. But it is far better than any competition and deserves to be referred to as the #1, best userscript manager out there.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Virtpunk, 2 months agoI've been using it without problems for many years. About 3-4 months ago, scripts started to be deleted when syncing, I was shocked! I added several accounts to save the scripts, and noticed that after a while many of the scripts disappeared.
It's good that I had a backup, because I have almost 200 scripts (but half are disabled now). And so it would be... It would be a disaster to lose everything over the years. In short, after synchronization, the program deleted most of the scripts and left 20-30 pieces. I figured out how to delete the sync and saved it manually.
Now, about 2 months ago, new problems started. Scripts stopped working on different sites, from YouTube to others. And most importantly, you don't even think about it. I noticed that the functionality on YouTube is missing. And only then did I notice that the script manager had fallen off there and was no longer working on YouTube, the icon was not glowing on YouTube.
Now new problems have begun. And I also didn't think about the script manager, but I thought about the scripts themselves, that they didn't work. But it turned out to be him.
I turned on Tampermonkey and everything worked. Before the latest updates, everything worked fine for years, so you don't even think about the script manager. - Rated 5 out of 5by Tavo Elguea Lopez, 2 months ago

Am besten diesen Punkt separat einstellbar machen. Nicht jeder hat top 100%ige Augen... - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 16478816, 3 months ago
- Rated 5 out of 5by jicetus, 4 months agoThe best userscript manager for Firefox.
I used Greasemonkey forever, then switched to Tampermonkey after Firefox broke legacy support with its multi-process architecture. I still run both, but Violentmonkey outperforms its competitors in every way that matters.
No bloat, privacy-focused, actually optimised for Firefox and open-source. Tampermonkey being closed-source, and originally Chrome-centric (pre-Manifest V3). If you're using Firefox, use Violentmonkey. - Rated 5 out of 5by oprypin, 4 months ago
