Vocalize turns anything you read into clear, natural speech.

It finds the main readable content on the page — article, PDF, or EPUB — and reads it aloud while highlighting each sentence in sync, so you never lose your place. Listen to long reads, study material, or documentation hands-free.

Privacy
Vocalize only reads a page when you ask it to. Free voices are synthesized locally by your browser. If you use premium voices or the summary feature, the relevant text is sent to the Vocalize service to generate audio/summaries and is not used for any other purpose. Developer comments

Declare this on the Developer Hub during submission (not in the manifest):
browser_specific_settings.gecko.data_collection_permissions requires Firefox
140+, but we keep strict_min_version: 121.0 for compatibility, so the manifest
key is intentionally omitted and the disclosure is made via the dashboard. (This
is why web-ext lint still reports the advisory MISSING_DATA_COLLECTION_PERMISSIONS
warning — it's non-blocking.)

Data collected (only when the optional premium/summary features are used; free
voices are synthesized on-device and collect nothing):

Website content (websiteContent) — the page text to be read aloud or
summarized is sent to the Vocalize service to generate audio/summaries.
Authentication information (authenticationInfo) — sign-in uses an auth
token to access the account and premium voices.

No browsing history, location, financial, or health data is collected.
