VoxSub Privacy Policy

VoxSub is a subtitle extension for HTML5 video players. It provides dual captions, subtitle translation, subtitle rewriting, subtitle search, subtitle customization, smart subtitle filtering profiles, subtitle file upload/export features, and optional AI voice dubbing.

Data Collection

VoxSub does not collect, sell, or share personal data with VoxSub servers.

Local Storage

VoxSub stores settings locally in the user's browser using browser storage. This may include subtitle preferences, appearance settings, language preferences, uploaded subtitle handling preferences, smart subtitle filtering rules, and user-configured API settings.

Smart subtitle profiles, including replace rules, skip rules, mute rules, and filtering preferences, are stored locally in the browser.

AI Features

AI-related features, such as subtitle translation, subtitle rewriting, and optional voice dubbing, only run when the user actively triggers them.

When the user uses these AI features, selected subtitle text, related subtitle content, user instructions, and any required user-provided API key may be sent directly to supported third-party AI services configured by the user.

VoxSub does not run AI features automatically in the background.

Uploaded Subtitle Files

If the user uploads subtitle files, they are processed in the browser for subtitle display, translation, search, editing, filtering, export, or dubbing features.

VoxSub does not collect uploaded subtitle files on VoxSub servers.

Permissions

VoxSub uses browser permissions to detect HTML5 video players, detect subtitle resources, display subtitle overlays, store user preferences, export subtitle files when requested, and provide subtitle tools on supported websites.

Host Permissions

VoxSub may run on supported video websites and HTML5 video pages to detect subtitles and display subtitle controls. The extension does not use this access to collect browsing history or personal data for VoxSub servers.

Downloads Permission

The downloads permission is used only when the user chooses to export or save subtitle-related files.

Web Request Permission

The webRequest permission is used to detect subtitle-related network resources on supported video pages.
