Watchbox - Inbox Zero for YouTube by esoxjem
Watchbox privacy information — 12 October 2026
Watchbox works on desktop YouTube pages. It reads video titles, IDs, creator details, thumbnails, upload information and the player's position to provide its Inbox and viewing controls. Inbox decisions, cached video metadata, saved positions, Undo history and preferences are stored locally in browser.storage.local.
When you choose Save to Watch later, Watchbox operates YouTube's native save controls, which update your YouTube account. It confirms the result by requesting your Watch Later playlist from YouTube using your existing signed-in session. Continuation requests include page-derived playlist data and a session-derived authentication header sent only to YouTube. Watchbox does not ask for your YouTube password or send session authentication to a developer-operated service.
When a returned Inbox video is missing metadata, Watchbox requests its YouTube watch page and caches the metadata locally. Video thumbnails and creator avatars load from YouTube's image hosts. These requests disclose the requested resource and normal network information to Google/YouTube and are subject to their privacy practices.
Watchbox has no developer-operated backend, analytics or advertising service. It does not transmit your local Inbox decisions, saved positions or preferences to the developer. Turning Watchbox off stops its Inbox imports and controls while retaining local data. Removing the extension removes its local storage through the browser; videos already saved to your YouTube account remain in Watch Later until you remove them there.
