Webtoon Night Reader is an independent reading customization extension. It has no developer-operated server, analytics, advertising, extension account, payment system or remote executable code. It does not sell or send your reading records to the developer.

Information processed on your device

Reading settings and presets: colors, brightness, warmth, scrolling controls, shortcuts, interface positions and saved presets use the browser's local extension storage.

Reader sites and pages: enabled hostnames, current reader URLs, page/series/chapter titles, image addresses and reader layout are used to apply settings, find chapters and identify panels. Custom-site permission grants and enablement choices are stored locally.

Chapter positions: remembering chapter position is on by default. It stores a chapter URL or Webtoon title/episode identifier, scroll position, page dimensions and an image-path anchor locally, so reopening the chapter can restore your place. Turning this option off stops saving and restoring; it does not erase older records.

Bookmarks: saving or selecting a bookmark reads its title and URL and can create or update a real browser bookmark. Using Find bookmarks in the picker searches your browser bookmarks, or displays up to 100 recent entries when the search is empty. A local record associates selected bookmark IDs with each series. Automatic bookmarking is off by default and only updates bookmarks after you enable it. Bookmarks are separate from locally stored scroll positions.

Image processing: image pixels are processed locally to find blank spaces and derive optional lighting colors. Decoded images, samples and fill masks may be cached in memory while the extension is running.

Optional cookie clearing: off by default. Enabling it for a reader lets the extension enumerate and remove that site's cookies, including its subdomains, on page loads and when enabled. Cookie values are not saved or transmitted by the extension. This can sign you out and reset consent preferences.

Network requests and third parties

The extension loads comic images directly from the website or its image hosts for preloading and local image processing. Loading ahead is on by default and can download more images than are immediately visible; you can turn it off in Tools. No images are uploaded to the developer.

Those websites and image hosts receive ordinary request information such as your IP address, requested image URL and applicable request headers. Extension-worker image requests omit credentials. Some fallback image reads from the reader page can use that site's existing credentials. A narrow rule supplies a Webtoon referrer for image-processing requests to two Webtoon image hosts. The extension does not provide access to content you are not authorized to read.

Websites, browser providers and stores have their own privacy practices. Browser bookmarks may sync through your browser account if you enable the browser's bookmark sync. The extension itself uses local storage rather than browser sync storage for settings and chapter positions.

Your controls and retention

Use the main effects switch to compare with the original page, and individual switches to control features. Saved presets can be deleted in Presets. Extra sites can be disabled or removed from the extension popup. The browser's extension settings let you restrict site access or disable/uninstall the extension. Disabling an effect does not delete its saved settings.

Local extension settings and reading records remain until removed or the extension is uninstalled. Standard settings resets reading options; it does not erase bookmarks, presets or chapter positions. Browser bookmarks remain after uninstalling and can be deleted with the browser's bookmark manager. The extension has no server copy from which to recover local data.
