- Overview
Woo Recorder is a Firefox developer tool designed to record, compare, analyze, and edit HTTP workflows on WooCommerce websites and generate reusable PHP cURL automation.
Woo Recorder is designed to process recorded information locally within the user's browser. Woo Recorder does not operate a remote service for collecting recordings and does not transmit recorded browsing or HTTP traffic to the developer.
- Information Woo Recorder Accesses
When the user explicitly starts a recording from the Woo Recorder Firefox Developer Tools panel, Woo Recorder may access information associated with network activity in the inspected browser tab.
Depending on the activity performed on the inspected website, this information may include:
Request and response URLs
HTTP methods
Query parameters
Request and response headers
Request and response cookies
Request bodies and POST data
Response bodies
HTTP status information
Content types
Network timing information
Server IP address information reported by Firefox Developer Tools
Navigation URLs
Request provenance and JavaScript initiator metadata
WooCommerce session values, nonces, cart values, and other values required to analyze a recorded workflow
The exact information present in a recording depends on the website being inspected and the actions performed by the user.
- Local Processing
Analysis performed by Woo Recorder occurs locally within Firefox.
Recorded information may be used locally to:
Display captured network requests
Compare repeated recordings
Identify changing and reusable values
Determine dependencies between HTTP requests
Analyze request provenance
Define workflow variables
Generate PHP cURL automation
Create local project and recording exports
Woo Recorder does not send recorded information to a developer-operated server for this processing.
- Local Storage
When the user saves a recording or project, Woo Recorder stores the associated information using Firefox's browser.storage.local extension storage.
Stored information may include:
Projects
Recordings
Captured HTTP information
Analysis results
Dependency information
Workflow configuration
User-defined variables and edits
Woo Recorder preferences
The unlimitedStorage permission is used because recorded HTTP sessions and response content may require more storage than a typical extension preference dataset.
- Sensitive Information and Redaction
HTTP traffic can contain sensitive information.
Woo Recorder includes a capture-time redaction feature that is enabled by default. This feature is designed to redact certain categories of sensitive information, including certain:
Authentication headers
API keys and authentication tokens
WordPress login cookies
Password fields
Payment-card information
Security codes
Account or routing numbers
Other recognized credential fields
The redaction system is intentionally selective because some values are required for analyzing WooCommerce workflows.
For example, WooCommerce session cookies, cart-related cookies, nonces, and certain security fields may be retained when they are necessary for workflow analysis.
The redaction feature does not guarantee that every possible sensitive value will be identified or removed.
Users can disable capture-time redaction. When redaction is disabled, captured requests and responses may contain information that would otherwise have been redacted.
Users should review recordings and exported files before sharing them with another person or service.
- Data Transmission
Woo Recorder does not transmit recorded information to the developer.
The extension does not include developer-operated:
Analytics
Telemetry
Tracking
Advertising
Cloud synchronization
Crash-reporting services
Remote recording storage
Woo Recorder does not require an account with the developer.
Normal HTTP requests made by the website being inspected continue to communicate with that website and its services. Woo Recorder observes these requests through Firefox Developer Tools while recording; those website communications are not transmissions to the Woo Recorder developer.
- Page-Context Request Provenance
While recording, Woo Recorder may temporarily install a reversible page-context hook in the inspected page to observe JavaScript fetch and XMLHttpRequest initiator information.
This mechanism is used to associate recorded HTTP requests with relevant JavaScript activity.
Request bodies used by this provenance mechanism are hashed for correlation rather than copied into provenance events.
The hook is removed when recording ends.
- Exports and Generated Files
Woo Recorder allows users to export recordings and projects as local files and to generate PHP automation packages.
These files are created locally and downloaded through the browser.
Exported files may contain information derived from recorded website activity. Users are responsible for deciding where exported files are stored and with whom they are shared.
Once an exported file has been saved outside Firefox, Woo Recorder does not control that file.
Generated PHP automation is separate software output created by Woo Recorder. If the user later executes generated PHP code, that code may send HTTP requests to the WooCommerce website or other endpoints represented by the generated workflow. Such execution occurs outside the Woo Recorder Firefox extension.
- Imported Files
Woo Recorder allows users to import compatible Woo Recorder project files.
Imported files are processed locally and may be stored in Firefox extension storage.
Users should only import files from sources they trust.
- Data Sharing and Sale
Woo Recorder does not sell recorded information.
Woo Recorder does not provide recorded information to advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers, or other third parties.
Any sharing performed manually by the user, such as sending an exported recording or generated PHP package to another person, occurs outside Woo Recorder's control.
- Data Retention and Deletion
Saved recordings remain in Woo Recorder's local Firefox extension storage until they are removed by the user or the associated extension storage is otherwise cleared.
Users can delete recordings and projects through Woo Recorder's Library functionality.
Files that the user has exported or downloaded separately must be deleted separately from the location where the user saved them.
- Third-Party Websites
Woo Recorder is intended to operate while inspecting WooCommerce websites.
Those websites and any third-party services they use operate under their own privacy policies and terms. Woo Recorder does not control the privacy practices of websites being recorded.
- Changes to This Privacy Policy
This privacy policy may be updated when Woo Recorder's functionality or data-handling practices change.
If a future version introduces external data transmission, analytics, cloud services, or materially different data-handling behavior, this policy and the extension's Firefox data-collection declarations should be updated accordingly.
