X Image Downloader by tOMOYA

X Image Downloader is a lightweight Firefox extension for quickly saving original-quality images from X/Twitter and preparing video downloads for yt-dlp.


The extension adds a small DL ↓ button to supported X/Twitter post images.

When clicked, it requests X's highest publicly available image variant (name=orig) and downloads it through Firefox.

It supports:

• Profile → Media pages
• infinite scrolling
• single-image posts
• images opened in X's multi-image viewer
• Firefox's normal download folder
• optional "Ask where to save" mode

The extension ignores profile pictures, banners, emoji, interface graphics, and video players.


When viewing an X profile, choose a From and To date and click Search Date Range.

The extension opens media-filtered results in X's Latest search view in a new tab immediately beside the current tab.


For X posts containing video, the extension can create a ready-to-use yt-dlp command such as:

yt-dlp "https://x.com/user/status/123456789"

The extension does not download videos itself or execute external programs.


Select multiple X video tabs in Firefox and the extension can create a .txt file containing one X status URL per line.

It then provides a command such as:

yt-dlp -a "xdl-batch-2026-09-28-040000.txt"

Nothing is copied or executed automatically.


An optional debug mode is available under About to help diagnose future X layout changes.

Debug logging is disabled by default, stored locally in Firefox extension storage, and can be cleared by the user.

The extension does not collect X cookies, authentication tokens, passwords, or other login credentials.


X Image Downloader has no analytics, telemetry, remote server, advertising system, or cloud account.

It does not transmit user data to the developer.
