About this extension
Reading x.com without an account means fighting a wall of popups: "Continue to X", "Scan to get the app", surprise log-in dialogs and, on phones, "Get the full app experience". Hiding them with an element-hiding filter leaves the page frozen, because X also locks scrolling. This add-on dismisses them properly and keeps the page scrollable.
What it removes
What it fixes
What it leaves alone
If you click "Log in" or "Sign up" yourself, that dialog stays open, so you can still log in. For actions that need an account, such as Like, a small notice explains why nothing happened.
Privacy
It only runs on x.com and twitter.com, collects no data and sends nothing anywhere. It needs access to those sites to rewrite app-store redirect links back to normal x.com links.
Works in Firefox on desktop and Android. The source code is on GitHub.
This add-on is not made, endorsed or supported by X Corp.
What it removes
- The "Continue to X" wall at the bottom of profiles and posts.
- The "Scan to get the app" QR code popup.
- Log-in and sign-up dialogs that open on their own, or when X takes over a click on a post, Like or Follow.
- The "Don't miss what's happening" popup shown instead of the post you clicked. The post opens instead.
- The "Log in or sign up for X" box in the sidebar, and the Google one-tap sign-in overlay.
- On phones: the "Get the full app experience" / "Open X" popup, and tweet links that send you to the app store instead of the post.
- Cookie banners, by choosing "Refuse non-essential cookies" where offered.
What it fixes
- Photos in posts open full size on the page instead of reloading the post. Posts with several photos can be swiped or paged with the arrows, and Back closes the photo.
- The video player's full screen button works instead of reloading the post.
