- Rated 1 out of 5by AliceYan0606, 4 years agoSince yesterday I can't sync my bookmarks anymore. I receive the message to check my sync ID, password and service URL. I'm pretty sure I wrote everything correctly.
To the developer: log file sent. Thank you.Developer response

- Rated 1 out of 5by Vlad, 4 years agoОпасное расширение.

posted 4 years agoWow, one wonders why someone might leave a review in RUSSIAN spreading such outrageous disinformation... So you do realise that web extensions have no access to the operating system and operate strictly within the browser process! It is not possible for an extension to do what you claim, and if anyone wants to verify this well feel free to go through the code - it's open source!

- Rated 5 out of 5by Shihabus Sakib Rad, 5 years agoWhat does it mean that data will be deleted after several weeks of inactivity?
several weeks mean 2 or 3 weeks? please specify in dayDeveloper response
posted 5 years agoIt depends on the service you use to sync to, the default service (api.xbrowsersync.org) has an inactivity period of 21 days. You only need to be concerned if Firefox is not opened or the xBrowserSync extension is disabled for periods of time approaching 21 days, otherwise you don't need to be concerned about your sync data being removed. - Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 15821277, 5 years agoThe updated version of this add-on works great. There are still some issues but it is very usable at this point.

posted 5 years agoWhich version? v1.5.2 has resolved all sync issues. If you have a real issue then why don't you raise it on GitHub (https://github.com/xbrowsersync/app/issues), the extension makes it clear how users can easily do this!
I realise it's annoying when you are affected by bugs but this is a free open-source extension that I build and support out of my spare time, yet Firefox users seem to prefer to come on here and leave a negative review rather than seek free help and support the project!!! Over 6000 Chrome users don't appear to follow this behaviour judging from the reviews on the Chrome web store... - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14971963, 5 years ago
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 15701774, 5 years agoI can't really recomend this add-on at all. The developer blames the Firefox bookmark API, however they still leave the issue in that has the potential to cause complete loss of bookmarks, instead of disabling it all together. Being able to say you are cross platform doesn't do you any good when one of those platforms has such a breaking bug like this. Atleast a warning within the app itself would be nice, and an automated local backup of your bookmarks(instead of a manual one) would be very helpful too for when the addon decides to blow away half your library.

posted 5 years agoAll sync issues have been resolved in v1.5.2. If you have an issue then why don't you raise it on GitHub (https://github.com/xbrowsersync/app/issues)? - Rated 2 out of 5by Miguel Garza, 5 years agoUnfortunately not ready for prime time. I have native syncing of bookmarks turned off in Firefox, and don't use native sync in Chrome, and while this extension is relatively functional, it sometimes throws errors and then overwrites what you've just saved (bookmarks, folders of bookmarks) with outdated info it has on its server. Also puts bookmarks in the wrong places sometimes. I've lost a fair amount of research time because of this extension. I hope it improves. Haven't really come across a cross-browser bookmark syncing solution that just works, yet.

Edit: I absolutely appreciate the developer's response. As a non-programmer, I trust the developer's statement that the loss of bookmarks is due to a Firefox bug. However, if that's the case, then I lost an entire folder of bookmarks because I dragged-and-dropped a folder in the Bookmarks Manager (the Library) from one location to another in the bookmark folder heirarchy. Or, because I selected multiple bookmarks, then used cut and paste to move them. In either case, these are basic bookmark maintenance functions--so I can't use this extension and I'm not sure it's fair to say "Firefox's native bookmarking features are fully supported" when cutting and pasting multiple bookmarks is not supported. Regardless of who is at fault.Developer response
posted 5 years agoWhat you describe is due to bugs with the Firefox bookmark API, not xBrowserSync. I'm adding some partial fixes in the upcoming release that will make life easier in many circumstances, but until Mozilla's devs fix their broken browser API, not much I can do... Check the known issues (https://github.com/xbrowsersync/app/wiki/Known-issues) for more info. - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 15330148, 5 years agoWorked for about a week, then it suddenly deleted all my bookmarks, for years kept. There's a security floor in this somewhere. My advice is to not use it unless you regularly backup your valuable bookmarks using another piece of software - defeats the point really.
Was the second time I gave it a chance.
Don't use, unless they can iron out the problems.Developer response

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 12849453, 5 years agoSadly keeps obliterating any new bookmarks i ad, i have to login via a cpative portla every 6 hours and all xmarks EVER does is complain that it cant conencto to the server whent he inetrnet is chopped off befire i have to log into the portal again. then the minute its able to reocnnect it s give me an error about local bookmarks, and then sync form the same (un-updated) bookmarks from remote sync...completely obliterating any new bookmarks. Doesnt seem very clever in its sync logic. Luckily ive made local backups. Going to try anoher service, sadly this just doesnt work in my experience.

It works for awhile, but then unfortunately it loses about half of the bookmarks, forcing me to restore from backup. It seems to work very well in Chrome alone. I'll try it again in Firefox in the future.

posted 5 years agoHi there, just to let you know this issue (https://github.com/xbrowsersync/app/issues/58) has been resolved for the upcoming v1.5.0 release.
I've been working hard to get all of the reported syncing issues resolved and am currently doing extensive testing to ensure that v1.5.0 is stable as a rock. If you'd like to check it out, you can get the beta here:
https://github.com/xbrowsersync/app/releases/tag/v1.5.0beta - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 15088474, 5 years agoI keep several levels of folders in my bookmarks. This extension completely scrambled my bookmarks. Still in the process of untangling them.

posted 5 years agoHi there, I'm really sorry for the issues yourself and others have had. This is due to bugs in the syncing code, as well as a bug in Firefox's bookmarks API.
I've been working hard to get all of these syncing issues resolved and have now fixed the known issues in dev, the upcoming v1.5.0 release will include these fixes. Firefox v69 resolves the bookmarks API issues which I've tested in Nightly and confirmed.
v1.5.0 with Firefox Nightly should resolve all syncing issues so please bear with me. Thanks for your understanding!! - Rated 5 out of 5by Daniel B.P., 6 years agoI had several issues with previous versions but I must admit this now works perfectly as advertised. The extension is stable and reliable.
