Why Yandex at all

• Reverse image search. This is what many people keep Yandex around for: it is good at finding the source of an image, similar shots, the place a photo was taken, or a product from a picture — often where other engines come up empty.
• Different results. Every search engine has its own algorithms and its own filtering rules. Yandex returns results that differ from Google's: some things show up only here, some only there. A second engine at hand simply gives you a better chance of finding what you need.

What the extension does on desktop

• Adds Yandex to your search engines and offers to make it the default — Firefox will ask you to confirm.
• The @ya keyword for a one-off search from the address bar: @ya weather in London.
• A toolbar button: click, type, get results in a new tab.
• Yandex suggestions in the address bar as you type.

On Android

• Quick search from the extension button in the menu.

Firefox for Android does not let extensions add search engines. On a phone you add Yandex by hand, once — the extension shows you how and gives you the string to copy.
