by Firefox user 15338396, 6 months agoI really love this add-on, it's awesome! However... I've had this issue where, when there was a yt vid embedded in a external website, it would sort of "flicker" (the video appears and disappears, without progressing, making it unwatchable). For YEARS I've struggled with this, cleaning cookies, etc, because sometimes it would happen and sometimes not. I would always, ultimately, just watch the video on youtube's website to bypass the problem. Well, with a website I want to use, that won't do for me anymore, so I sat down with the intent to get to the bottom of this. After a lot of troubleshooting, I finally discovered that it was this add-on that was the problem: specifically, the "Disable annotations" option. What a shame, the add-on is a 5/5 otherwise. Hopefully this gets fixed, or if there is no fix, at least a warning that this particular option might cause issues. As for now, I'll simply go ahead and disable that toggle. If you've had this issue too, this is the fix!

- Rated 1 out of 5by adamhybel, 24 days agoUnhook is incredibly effective at removing YouTube distractions, significantly improving focus. The core functionality is brilliant and much appreciated.
However, I'm giving it 1 star due to a critical issue: it is closed-source. This lack of transparency is a major concern. We, the users, cannot verify the code we are running in our browsers. This presents potential security and privacy risks, as there's no way to audit the extension for hidden tracking or malicious behaviour. Trust requires transparency.
I genuinely love what this extension does, and I would instantly change my rating to 5 stars if the developers embraced free and open-source principles.
I strongly urge other users to request this change as well. Open source is vital for user security and trust in browser extensions. Developers, please consider making Unhook open-source. The concept is fantastic, but its closed nature prevents a wholehearted recommendation. - Rated 5 out of 5by Reel Heck, 24 days agoThis is an incredible resource that has saved me from an endless loop of time-wasting. It is wonderfully customizable to your needs. One suggestion for the creator: Please can you update this to allow us to block the new AI generated video summaries on Youtube? Thank you.
- Rated 5 out of 5by PK, 25 days agoI just love this extension. It gives me the choice to hide the homepage, video recommendations, comments, and so on. It can even hide the notifications bell icon on top.
I wanted to hide comments, and now, after using it for a few days, I can say it absolutely works. I highly recommend this extension for those who want to avoid comments and other distractions. The homepage is a huge distraction. I have set it to redirect to the subscriptions tab, so whenever I open YouTube.com, it redirects to the subscriptions tab, which is all I need and If I want to watch something specific, I can search for it. This extension gives you all the control to choose. I highly recommend this extension. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18954436, a month ago
