by Mamlow, 5 days agoGreat addon, incredibly polished, the only thing that it is missing is the ability to chat with the summary bot, and to add our own api for our chosen chatbot. Please if you see this review add the ability to chat with the summary bot, oftentimes, the summary of the video is way too long, much appreciated

- Rated 3 out of 5by PatrikZudel, 3 days agoI still can't find a good addon for youtube summaries.. This one at least WORKS compared to the others that are available at the moment but it has a major flaw.
The "summaries" are extremely long and wordy even on the "short" setting. We should be able to customize the prompt because it obviously isn't that good for short summaries...
3 Requests:
1. Make the "short" setting produce short summaries.
2. Allow choosing a custom prompt
3. Allow choosing OpenAI API using own API key
Thank you for making this anyway! - Rated 5 out of 5by wojteg, 16 days agothis add-on creates very good summaries of movies so you can save a lot of time or even before watching the movie find out if the movie is worth watching or if it's just clickbait. It works great with both English and Polish movies. I recommend

- Rated 5 out of 5by Andrés Rendón, 22 days agoIts a great extension, But I'd like to have options to use my own API key, select the model and input custom prompts to it, maybe having different prompts for different kind of videos to get the most of the thing.
- Rated 5 out of 5by Josh, a month agoPerfect for sifting vacuous 20min "algorithm" videos.
My only critique is that the 'short' answers are still very long.
Big thanks to alex for sharing this QOL improvement with us. - Rated 5 out of 5by Abanoub, a month ago

posted 4 months agoGood afternoon, thanks for your feedback. This bug may be due to the fact that the language of the subtitles does not match the language of the video in some video. This problem comes from YouTube, but I will try to fix it in the extension in a future update. - Rated 5 out of 5by shinediamond295, 4 months agoclean interface and just works without begging for money 👍
- Rated 4 out of 5by Tommy, 4 months agoIt works very well. Here are a few suggestions :
- When we open a YT video using "Open in new tab" (back-end), we have to reload the webpage to see the "Summarize" button when we access the tab, which is annoying.
- It's not clear how to access preferences, for example to change language.
- That would be great to have an option to disable "Minutes saved"... because I think most people don't care about that. It would help to keep a clean and minimal user interface.
- The number of "Minutes saved" is not accurate, because it takes time to read the summary, and the number that is displayed is the duration of the video. For instance, for a 30-minute video, if it takes 2 minutes to read the summary, number of minutes saved is not 30 but 28. You could reduce the number based on how long is the summary (number of words) and the average reading speed.
- The summary is great, but it would be better if it was not always referring to "The text describes..." or "The author...". I understand that the summary is from the transcript, which is text, but that would be more accurate if there was a way to tell the AI that the source is a video, and not a text (i.e. the speaker instead of the author, or the video instead of the text).
IMO, the first and the last comments should be the most important to improve. Overall, a very good extension, very simple and accurate.Developer response

- Rated 5 out of 5by ffus3r, 5 months agoPretty cool. One issue I've come across is that button doesn't show when navigating to another video. Tab needs to be reloaded. So to fix this you need to listen for the 'yt-navigate-finish' event. I've updated the background .js here:

Couple suggestions:
- The text is aligned justified which looks pretty bad imo. So rather text align it left.
- Add an option to reset the 'minutes saved' count

posted 5 months agoThank you very much for the good rating despite the comments. To be honest, it is very unexpected and nice to see a proposal with a code example right away, it is the first time I see this and it is very cool! Thank you, I will include these improvements in the next update. If you have any more suggestions, let me know by email ogobel@icloud.com
