by strings, a year agoI think this is just an ad blocker with some malware in it. It gets detected as an ad blocker by YT and is NOT made by the same guy who made an exception that does the same thing in chrome.
Edit:1
Mozilla "This add-on is not actively monitored for security by Mozilla. Make sure you trust it before installing." this is at the top of the page 😑 and where's the zip on the page.
Edit:2
The ZIP File link only shows up on the page for me if I open the page in a browser other then Firefox. It looks clean but I'm not the best at reading JS.

posted a year agoThe same guy who made the extension for Chrome did not want to make it for Firefox. If you download the zip file of this extension, you can literally open the script and see the code for yourself. It's only 25 lines of code that get the video player in a YouTube page and sets the speed to x16 of the ad.
Stop lying about it having malware, ALL extensions are manually checked by Mozilla before being allowed to be published.
edit 1:
if you go to about:addons, click on gear icon and choose "install add-on from file" and choose any add-on in it's archive form, it says "this add-on cannot be installed because it has not been verified". So I had to publish the extension in order to use it fro myself, my initial intention was not to make it public, just to make it work for myself, which apparently requires me to publish it first and for it to get approved. You can try for yourself to install an add-on in archive form, get the same result, then try to publish it here and wait a few days for Mozilla to approve it.
edit 2:
I don't know JS, but I have knowledge about other programming languages, to me the code is super simple and works pretty straight-forward. In the extension are only a few files, the script and some icons, so I don't know what would you consider malware.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Breadwinners, 3 months agoThe speed up is nice and all and the muting of the add also, but this addon has some issues on music.youtube.com where it pauses the ad and you or in this case i needed to interact with the first ad on each video/music piece that had an ad.
- Rated 4 out of 5by Kis Albert, 3 months agostill works, but please add Auto Skip button pressing! Currently I need another addon for that on github M1ck0/adskipper-extension

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 13626504, 6 months agoWorks most of the time. Sometimes I have to reload two or three times to disable the youtube adblocker notification or the whole video is sped up instead of just the ads. Definitely needs an update. The chrome version just received an one (June 12, 2024) to adress issues like that.
- Rated 3 out of 5by IamOwen, 6 months agoWorks well but please update this to speed up Twitch ads like the new version of the Chrome extension

posted 7 months agoPlease make sure that the extension has the permission to run in youtube tabs. It should have the checkmark on "Always allow on www.youtube.com"- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 14535839, 7 months ago
- Rated 4 out of 5by Charlotte, 8 months agoworks most of the time, but sometimes doesn't auto skip the ad
- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18381874, 8 months agoIt sometimes lags but overall great ad on. Get the pun?????

- Rated 2 out of 5by trudo, 9 months agoIt played the ad at 16x speed and muted it correctly but then it started doing the same to the actual video so the video itself was at 16x speed and muted. This only happens sometimes to the video, not every time.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13833524, 10 months agoWorks well as of March 2024. YouTube keep changing the software so I hope this continues to work. Thanks to the developer who ported this, well done.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Kaltrix, a year agoReally enjoy this add on here an on chrome, one note i do have is i wish it would automatically change my resolution to 144p during ads as my Auto res option (default) will often attempt to play ads at 1440 or even 4k, which with my shitty internet results in a delay in the ad loading and passing the 5 second skip barrier, otherwise great stuff
- Rated 3 out of 5by ytadblockftw, a year agothe auto-skip feature no longer works... other than that it has worked flawlessly
