Backstop is automatic draft recovery for Firefox. It quietly saves substantial text typed into multiline web forms and rich-text editors, then offers one-click restoration when a refresh, crash, or expired session leaves the editor empty.

Private and conservative by design

Backstop ignores ordinary single-line inputs and excludes password, payment, authentication, one-time-code, private-key, read-only, and disabled contexts. It does not run in private windows. Rich text is restored as literal plain text, never saved HTML.

Firefox extension storage is local but is not encrypted. Do not use Backstop for passwords, payment details, recovery codes, private keys, seed phrases, or other secrets.
