The normal deletion speed is some hundred bookmarks per seconds. If it is considerably slower then very likely the cause is some bad configuration. An example might be another bookmark related addon is installed which slows down the process.

Fantastic! Just what I needed. Reduced my 13,000+ bookmarks to about 3500 and afterward, I was able to delete over 700 empty folders.
I loved that I could choose to retain the most current of each group of duplicates. Thank you. <3
